Chapter 1 A Wretched, Devoted Mother
*She had no idea all her life that she was a cauldron.*
*Brought to the Shangyuan Sect at the age of five, she was told by Sect Master Lu Qingyuan that she had no talent and could only tend to some casual herbs. At eighteen, she was married to the sect master's son, Lu Yan.*
*She worshipped her ethereal husband like a deity, but unfortunately, he was utterly cold to her, never sparing her a second glance outside of marital bed affairs.*
*At twenty-eight, when her husband's cultivation advanced in leaps and bounds to the Nascent Soul stage, he said, "Give me a child."*
*At twenty-nine, she gave birth to triplet sons possessing the Heavenly Spiritual Root.*
*Thinking she had finally cleared away the clouds to see the bright moon, she never expected her husband would never set foot in her bedchamber again.*
*To win her husband's favor and please the triplets, she poured her very lifeblood into her planting. Finally, at thirty-nine, her vital energy exhausted, she resembled an eighty-year-old crone and died at last.*
*To her dying breath, she never knew that the plants she cultivated were top-grade spiritual herbs.*
*Remaining lifespan of the host: 30 days* *Storage space: 5 square meters* *Mission objective: Return to the original world* *Conditions for completion: Cultivate to immortality*
Absurd. Sitting sluggishly on the wooden bed, Lin Wei looked at the straightforward, concise text on the light screen before her, with only these two words in her mind.
Her name was also Lin Wei, and she was also thirty-nine.
She remembered being overturned by a large truck. The person had clearly arranged a hitman, repeatedly reversing and ramming into her car until it exploded, killing both her and her driver assistant on the spot.
When her consciousness faded, Lin Wei's mind was filled with unwillingness—did she have to die like this? What she never expected was that she was alive again, yet in a completely different world.
A flood of memories belonging to the original owner surged into her mind. After experiencing complete empathy with all of the original owner's memories, Lin Wei's body trembled with rage.
It was out of anger.
What was wrong with this woman? Could she not sense the malicious intentions of that old bastard in the Shangyuan Sect at all? Why did she never stop to think: when Lu Yan married her, his cultivation was only at the Late Foundation Establishment stage, yet after ten years of marriage, his cultivation advanced by leaps and bounds all the way to the Nascent Soul stage?
Why could a female cultivator of inferior aptitude like her give birth to three children with the Heavenly Spiritual Root?
Why could she, with her meager aptitude, make them soften their expressions merely by growing spiritual herbs?
From her perspective, the original owner did not have low aptitude; rather, she was a top-grade cauldron, exploited and harvested.
The so-called husband, children, and sect master were all simply utilizing her.
Because no one cared about her, not a single person discovered she had been dead for a full day.
All of this belonged to the original owner's past. With her body and soul perished, the original owner had likely already entered the cycle of reincarnation.
Lin Wei tried calling out in her mind, then poked and prodded at the light screen.
In the end, she confirmed that she had no system. This light screen was merely something to let her know she only had thirty days to live, and there were no starter gift packs for her either.
As the old saying goes, "When you arrive in a place, make yourself at home."
She still intended to live.
Lin Wei dragged her heavy body off the bed, wandered around the simple room for a bit, and walked outside.
She was hungry.
The original owner could not bear to spend or eat well, but she certainly could. In her worldview, she herself always came first, and her life motto had always been "Better benefit yourself than let others take advantage."
Fortunately, the original owner had an aloof and reclusive personality, walking alone, so Lin Wei did not have to worry about breaking character or anything of the sort.
Lin Wei went to the spiritual vegetable garden, looked at a slightly wilted Chinese cabbage, and pulled out two large heads in one go.
She dug up something resembling a spiritual bean, which was actually a potato, and finally headed to the spiritual poultry yard, where she caught and slaughtered a plump rooster.
The cabbage infused with spiritual qi cooked with spiritual rice porridge smelled simply intoxicating. The plump rooster stewed in a pot smelled utterly heavenly.
Lin Wei drank the porridge first, and was stunned by the very first mouthful. As expected of items from the Cultivation World, they were entirely different from what mortals ate.
As the spiritual qi entered her body, she felt every single one of the thousand wounds in this battered body being nourished.
Lin Wei ate with rapt absorption, completely unaware of the little tail that had arrived by the doorway, gazing longingly at her meal. Deep within dark, limpid pupils flickered worry, yet seeing Lin Wei eat with such appetite brought a sweet smile to her face.
Lin Wei only needed to turn her head to see, but she was eating with such intense focus that she completely failed to notice.
After all, her five senses were still no different from a mortal's; at thirty-nine years old, she was still only at the 7th Layer of Qi Condensation.
"Gurgle..."
A strange sound interrupted her. Lin Wei looked toward the source of the noise and finally caught sight of a scrawny little girl, around six years old, named Su Qiao.
"Little Qiao, what brings you over to my place? You haven't eaten yet, have you? Come over here quickly and eat."
Seeing it was just a child, Lin Wei's vigilance faded away.
Su Qiao was very reserved, clutching her stomach with an awkward air. "Grandma, I'm sorry. It was because I couldn't control it that it made a noise. I've actually already eaten, you go ahead and eat. I just came to see if you were feeling better."
This child also possessed a talent for planting, and was usually very well-behaved. In the original owner's memories, she often came by to quietly show concern for her after arriving. The original owner had died yesterday, and right before breathing her last, Su Qiao had come to check on her.
The little girl had even used a handkerchief to wash the original owner's face and wipe her hands.
The original owner's departure had been desolate, but she had at least left clean and with dignity.
This was perhaps the only person in the entire Shangyuan Sect who had ever genuinely cared about the original owner.
Lin Wei walked over to Su Qiao, took her chicken-claw-like hand, led her to the dining table to make her sit down, and went to fetch a bowl and chopsticks to dish out some porridge for her.
"Eat up."
With a gentle expression, Lin Wei also picked up a large chicken leg and placed it in Su Qiao's bowl.
These items were all imbued with spiritual qi; eating them was what truly nourished a person.
"Keep Grandma company and eat a little, that way Grandma will feel like eating too."
Seeing that the little girl was truly shy, Lin Wei smiled faintly and spoke.
Su Qiao was very obedient, picked up her chopsticks, ate quietly, and flashed a sweet smile at Lin Wei. "Thank you, Grandma."
Lin Wei smiled as well. She had never married, but she had sponsored many children, and she loved well-behaved and quiet children like this from the bottom of her heart. Having someone else to share a meal truly made the food taste even better.
The pot of chicken and the pot of porridge were eaten completely clean.
Lin Wei moved to clean up, but Su Qiao immediately jumped up, pressed her hands down, and said, "Grandma, rest. Let me handle these little chores."
As soon as she finished speaking, Su Qiao began briskly clearing the table, her tiny, slender frame possessing a surprising amount of strength.
Lin Wei could only feel a sense of wonder. In her understanding, how could a six- or seven-year-old child possibly do these things?
Yet in this Cultivation World, they certainly could.
A terrifying thought suddenly surged into Lin Wei's mind: could this Su Qiao perhaps be a cauldron as well?
The more she thought about it, the more likely she felt it was.
Once Su Qiao had finished cleaning up and obediently returned to her side, Lin Wei asked, "Xiao Qiao, how are your cultivation exercises going? Do you find them very difficult?"
