Lu Changsheng thought about how five years had passed; that little girl must be eight or nine now. It made sense that she would be at the river. "I'll go take a look," he said. He detoured around the village road toward the river. At a glance, he saw a group of children splashing in the water. He stood on the bank watching, a wave of nostalgia for those earlier days washing over him. Before long, he saw a thin, small figure emerge from the water. What bothered Lu Changsheng, however, was that Lu Heitu seemed to be ostracized; she was catching fish all by herself.
