Chapter 2

Since we are here, we might as well make the best of it.
Now that what's done is done, the only thing Yao Lan could do was accept everything. Besides, the Douluo World wasn't particularly powerful; armed with the power of Honkai: Star Rail, he would definitely do very well here.
"By the way, which era of the Douluo Continent is this?"
If you compared the Douluo Continent to a video game, the various novels in the Douluo series were essentially different game versions. With power creep being so severe nowadays, different strategies naturally had to be used.
Even though the Douluo dungeon wasn't particularly strong, you couldn't just blindly grind through it, right?
"Host, we are currently in the era of Douluo Continent III: The Legend of the Dragon King."
"The Legend of the Dragon King, huh..."
Upon receiving the reply, Yao Lan nodded, seemingly feeling that this timeline wasn't bad at all.
In Douluo I, the Buddha was on the ground; in Douluo II, the Buddha was in the heavens; and Douluo IV went without saying. Come to think of it, Douluo III was the only decent dungeon. After all, the God Realm had been swept away by a spacetime turbulence; even if Tang the Buddha wanted to do something, he couldn't possibly do it in person.
Coupled with the abilities he had acquired, he simply had nothing to worry about! At this thought, a smile appeared on Yao Lan's face.
If he had no system and no abilities, he definitely would have cowered upon transmigrating to this world. But now that the system and his abilities had both arrived, if he were still going to be that cowardly, wouldn't he have received the system and abilities for nothing?
A Lord Ravager, no less! An Aeon! Wasn't the Douluo World something he could easily manipulate at will?
"However, there is one point the host needs to pay attention to. Because the power you chose does not match the strength of the current world, to ensure the safety of this world, your chosen abilities will be distributed in batches."
Yao Lan, who had been immersed in joy, instantly sprouted three question marks on his forehead upon hearing these words.
What? Honkai: Star Rail's powers didn't match the Douluo World? A legend regarding the Douluo World gradually surfaced in his mind...
Hydrogen men! "I thought that was just an exaggerated figure of speech, but they're actually playing for keeps?"
Yao Lan let out a long sigh, though in a sense, the weaker this world was, the better his safety could be guaranteed.
"Just to be safe, you'd better tell me how to use these abilities."
"Understood, Host."
Although the strength of this world wasn't particularly high, Yao Lan, when all was said and done, was currently just a slightly stronger ordinary person. Without powerful abilities to protect him, if he ran into danger, he might not necessarily be able to escape.
The moment the voice trailed off, countless pieces of information surged into his brain like a tidal wave, leaving Yao Lan stunned for a good several seconds.
After about a minute, Yao Lan finally stirred, and without a moment's hesitation, he employed the ultimate defensive technique: "crouch and cover your head."
"Hiss! Who would have thought having memories blasted straight into your brain would feel like this?"
"It hurts! It hurts way too much!"
However, Yao Lan also understood perfectly well that just now, he had obtained power from the Honkai: Star Rail universe. It might hurt a bit the first time, but he wouldn't feel this way ever again afterwards.
Moreover, Yao Lan now knew precisely what kind of abilities he had acquired. They were truly identical to what he had imagined when he filled out that "Transmigration Notice," and they had even been refined.
Although they had been somewhat weakened due to the low power level of the Douluo World, that did not diminish the might of this power! After all, in the Honkai: Star Rail universe, the most powerful force Yao Lan could imagine was an Aeon. And since Lord Ravager-level power was capable of destroying star systems, what about an Aeon?
Yao Lan had no idea, so even if the power he obtained was merely one ten-thousandth of it, it would still be utterly terrifying to this world. First of all were avatars. Since he had already joined the army of transmigrators, who wouldn't maintain a few alternate identities?
Thus, Yao Lan acquired the ability to create alternate identities based on the rules of the world.
For example, if Yao Lan created a Robin alternate identity, the Douluo World would spontaneously manifest a beautiful girl named Robin out of thin air. Furthermore, to conform to the world's rules, this girl's Martial Soul would be a bird that sang exceptionally well.
If he created a Trailblazer alternate identity, then the Martial Soul might be a bat, a flaming lance, or a hat, representing the protagonist's forms across different Paths. It could even be a triple Martial Soul, or perhaps multiple Martial Souls!
Of course, Yao Lan could also transform directly into Robin or the Trailblazer, depending entirely on whether he wanted to or not...
But when all is said and done, creating alternate identities was just an appetizer, done mostly for fun. The next ability, however, was different—it was Yao Lan's core skill.
Simulate Aeon!
Whether it was Yao Lan's original body or any alternate identity he created, they could all directly receive the favor of the corresponding Aeons, possessing a fraction of an Aeon's power, instantly boosting the avatar to the level of a Lord Ravager, or even having an Aeon personally step down through the avatar to fight in their stead.
Because its power was too terrifying, it was currently in an unreleased state.
After all, going all-out would very likely shatter this world, and then Yao Lan would be left drifting aimlessly all alone in the universe—clearly not a good outcome.
"Then there's only one thing left for me to do..."
Feeling the power surging within his body, Yao Lan slowly closed his eyes, and a wave of white light quickly surrounded him.
Originally, Yao Lan was a twenty-year-old college student standing a full one meter seventy-eight centimeters tall, but under the radiance of this white light, his body began to shrink, changing at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Or rather, he directly turned into a child.
Not only that, even his hair color changed, interwoven with blue and gold, giving his entire person an aura of noble elegance.
"Is this the power of an Aeon? Just a tiny bit easily altered my appearance... It looks like I'll need to learn more about controlling my power in the future."
Yao Lan raised his head to look at the sky. Between the pupils of his double irises flashed two phantom shadows: one was half-man, half-horse, raising a bow to shoot the sun; the other possessed six arms and covered its face with a smile.
"Before all my powers are fully released, I must grow in the safest way possible."
After lingering in place for a moment, Yao Lan turned around, intending to leave this beach. But before leaving, he remembered something.
"System, what is the number of avatars I can currently create?"
"Answering the Host, currently only one."
The cold mechanical voice echoed in his mind once again, yet Yao Lan's expression didn't change in the slightest—or perhaps... he had already anticipated this.
"One is already enough."
When it came to brute power, Yao Lan had zero worries, but in terms of wits, he could only be considered slightly clever. Against those genuine masterminds, he definitely wouldn't stand a single chance.
"Therefore, what I need is an avatar that can represent 'The Erudition'..."
