Chapter 2

1,344 words7 minutes read

Shen Qingluo couldn't keep her composure the moment she looked at the chat.
What on earth? You're not Chu Zihang, you're a Maybach?
This is way too abstract.
[Group Owner / Dimensional Cute Newbie]: "For real?"
[Group Owner / Dimensional Cute Newbie]: "If you're a Maybach, doesn't that just make you a luxury car, completely incapable of transforming like Megatron?"
[Viaduct in the Storm]: "Yeah."
[Viaduct in the Storm]: "And I can't move a single inch right now. Only my line of sight can shift, and I have no way to inspect my own body or run diagnostics."
Lin Mai was exchanging information across the interface.
Even though he had already gotten his cheat, right now he felt like he had been transmigrated into a dashboard camera. It was as if the game developers hadn't programmed any freedom of movement—otherwise, he would have broken free long ago.
He would just have to wait until someone started driving to test out his control permissions.
Chu Zihang was still practicing his swordplay, with half an hour left until class ended.
Since this was a stable window for slacking off, he decided to first get acquainted with the other members of the Dimensional Chat Group.
And by the way, figure out how to spend these outrageously high 999 points in his hand.
[Group Owner / Dimensional Cute Newbie]: "In the month I've been group owner, I've really never seen a situation like yours."
[Group Owner / Dimensional Cute Newbie]: "There are other bots in the group too, but they can move around freely."
[Group Owner / Dimensional Cute Newbie]: "Still, maybe you have strengths in other areas? For example, are your car doors a bit loose, but your mechanical flexibility just happens to make up for it?"
[The Infamous V]: "What the hell."
[The Infamous V]: "You made me snort out loud for no reason while driving."
[I Am the Cosmic Rich Woman]: "What, so the newcomer is a car?"
[I Am the Cosmic Rich Woman]: "@Drop-Resistant King of Cybertron, what are your thoughts on this Autobot, pray tell?"
[Drop-Resistant King of Cybertron]: "Huh?"
[Drop-Resistant King of Cybertron]: "Let's get one thing straight: I'm on the side of the Decepticons, I have nothing to do with the Autobots."
[Drop-Resistant King of Cybertron]: "However, I, Megatron, certainly have the means to transform a normal automobile into a Transformers unit. It just requires paying a small price."
Transformers Universe.
Across the boundless universe, inside a grounded spaceship.
"Starscream, do we have any spare Autobot energy cores left here?"
Megatron asked indifferently.
His gaze flickered toward his second-in-command standing nearby. Regarding this lackey who had long harbored thoughts of betrayal, he already had a full set of methods ready to control and manipulate him.
After receiving spoilers, Megatron was confident he could firmly grasp the information gap and remain undefeated.
With a flying dragon right in his face, how could he possibly lose?
"We do."
Starscream forced a calm facade.
Over the past few days, ever since they discussed attacking the Autobot city on Earth, Megatron had seemed like a completely different person. Both his decision-making and strategic planning were unexpectedly flawless.
The way he was looking at him right now also gave him a faint sense of unease, as if he had been completely seen through.
"Good. In a moment, when I call for you, go pick out one in decent condition and bring it here."
"As for what I'm going to do, you have no right to ask."
Megatron nodded slightly, then let his consciousness sink as he returned to the Dimensional Chat Group.
He had joined the group half a month ago, but his check-in points totaled a mere 50—not even enough to meet the 100-point requirement to unlock the group mall.
His current plan was to sell an Autobot energy core to hit the minimum threshold for the mall feature, allowing him to continue executing his evil grand blueprint.
One day, he would force all humans on Earth to endure an eight-hour workday, provide them with three meals plus snacks where milk was only served at breakfast, and subject them to a life of enslavement with a mere one-hour nap at noon!
Hahahaha, tremble before me, humans of Earth!
[Viaduct in the Storm]: "So, what's the price?"
[Drop-Resistant King of Cybertron]: "V me 50, and I'll install an energy core for you!"
[Viaduct in the Storm]: "???"
[Viaduct in the Storm]: "How much??"
Lin Mai wore a blank expression. Wasn't he just awarded 999 points the moment he joined the group?
Near the Municipal Children's Palace, the crowd had thinned slightly.
"Could these points actually be worth a lot?"
Lin Mai pondered for a moment and opened the mall first.
The perks given by daily check-ins were theoretically just a drop in the bucket. The fastest way for members to earn points was by listing valuable items in the mall, meaning the gap between lucky and unlucky users shouldn't be too huge.
Yet seeing how eager Megatron was for this, Lin Mai couldn't help but feel a sliver of doubt. After all, hand-outs this generous to welcome a newcomer didn't come around often.
Not long after.
Sure enough, the product list appeared before his eyes.
[Ghost-Repelling Peach Wood Sword]
[Level: 1]
[Price: 100 points]
[Remarks: Effective specifically against deceased entities, but can only cause interference and cannot inflict substantial damage.]
[Heavy Rain Recovery Potion]
[Level: 1]
[Price: 100 points]
[Remarks: A somewhat useful healing item that can instantly repair wounds no larger than 10cm in diameter and provide minor rust prevention for mechanical parts.]
[……]
Boss Wei, aren't you selling this energy core way too cheap?
Lin Mai couldn't help but complain. Such trivial little items cost a full 100 points, while Cybertronians possessed solid, ferocious combat power. To him, 50 points was virtually pure profit with zero investment.
Whatever. It would be rude not to take advantage of cheap deals.
With that thought, he began searching the group interface for the red envelope feature.
[Viaduct in the Storm]: "This..."
[Drop-Resistant King of Cybertron]: "Think it's expensive?"
Megatron pondered slightly, trying to gauge the hesitant tone of the new group member.
Was the price a bit high?
After all, having chatted for so long, it had never seen any group member open the mall in the chat. The only uncertain variable was the group owner, who insisted on keeping secrets, which had shaken its confidence just a bit.
If the newcomer brought it up, lowering the price wasn't entirely out of the question.
"Generally speaking, 50 points is still pretty hard to scrape together. I can always give you a bit more time if worst comes to worst."
Thinking along those lines.
Megatron was just about to edit its message when, the next second, a red item popped up in the chat.
[Viaduct in the Storm]: "[Red Envelope]."
[Viaduct in the Storm]: "Got some points from my very first check-in when I joined. I checked, and it should be enough."
……
At this very moment, inside Shen Qingluo's home.
"Wait, is this newcomer seriously that lucky?"
Shen Qingluo glanced at her own group point balance. Just yesterday she had barely scraped past 200 points, yet this Maybach casually tossed out a 50-point red envelope right off the bat.
That amounted to a full quarter of her own balance!
Just how rich was this guy?
As the group owner, she knew the rules of the Dimensional Chat Group like the back of her hand. The maximum daily check-in reward was 999 points.
She didn't dare overestimate, but seeing Lin Mai throw money around like that still stirred up her curiosity.
Did he somehow check in and get 100 points right on day one?
With that, Shen Qingluo tapped on Lin Mai's avatar and entered the private chat.
[Dimensional Cute Newbie]: "Hello, hello."
[Dimensional Cute Newbie]: "Quick question—how many points did you get from your check-in on your first day? Pure curiosity, I won't tell the other members, and I'll send you a red envelope as compensation later."
