"Old man, who are you? How did you end up trapped in here?" Jiang Chen approached the man whose limbs were shackled to the wall, studying him closely. The old man’s hair was white, long, and disheveled—some of it even matted together, as if it hadn't been washed in years. As Jiang Chen drew near, a pungent, unpleasant odor assailed his nostrils. He inspected the chains binding the man and gave them a hard tug, hoping to snap them, but they were incredibly sturdy. No matter how much force he exerted, they only rattled with a metallic clanging, refusing to yield. "Save your energy. That effort is wasted on me," the old man said, plopping himself down on the ground. His movement caused the chains to rattle again. With a languid expression, he added, "These are made of dark iron. You won’t break them."
