A couple of days earlier, Zhai Yuanli and Cui Hexun had received the hospital's notification. The two of them went to the hospital together, where they were once again stuffed into a variety of miscellaneous instruments for another round of examinations, and had quite a bit of blood drawn.
The hospital had said the results would be out within five days.
But Zhai Yuanli felt as though there was no need to wait.
The client benefactor had done a good deed by sending him to the hospital, only for him to be treated straight away as an Omega and given injections—and it actually seemed to work. In his current state, all that was left was for them to officially hand down a verdict.
He also wondered how Cui Hexun was doing, where he had gone last night, and whether he had also undergone secondary sex differentiation after drinking that medicine...
"Mr. Qi, may I ask where my phone is? Didn't you want to exchange private contact information?"
"Your phone ran out of battery and shut down automatically yesterday, but since I didn't have a charging cable for that model, I had the driver go out and buy one to get it charged. I'll go get it for you."
Actually, Qi Xingyi harbored a selfish motive that even he himself hadn't noticed.
When the other man's phone died, he could have simply contacted the other's boss to inquire. If he genuinely wanted to do a good deed, a single phone call asking for the other's address would have been enough to send him home.
Yet, subconsciously, he had chosen bringing the person home as his top priority.
Ever since breaking up with his ex, he had never brought anyone else back here.
"I'll come with you."
The moment Zhai Yuanli stood up, he shook off the drowsiness of just waking up and clearly perceived that he was already feeling much better. His strength had recovered significantly, though he still had a vague, nagging sense that something felt a bit off.
He scratched the back of his neck, and Qi Xingyi's hand tightened.
Noticing the change in grip strength from the person supporting him, Zhai Yuanli felt a bit puzzled and struggled slightly against his arm. "Mr. Qi?"
"Pardon me, please sit for a moment. I'll go get it for you."
Handing the phone over, Qi Xingyi didn't let go. Instead, maintaining the grip on the phone, he brought both hands together and clasped Zhai Yuanli's hand as he reached out to take it.
"May I call you Yuanli?"
Zhai Yuanli was somewhat baffled. "You can address me however you like."
Qi Xingyi imperceptibly stroked the back of Zhai Yuanli's hand with his thumb. "Yuanli, please forgive me for any presumption, but I would like to ask: are you currently seeing anyone?"
Zhai Yuanli was even more bewildered. "N—no, I'm not."
Qi Xingyi obtained the satisfactory answer he was looking for, a lingering tenderness and anticipation in his gaze. "Then what do you think of me? My character is reasonably decent, I suppose, and you understand the Corporation's situation. After all, we've cooperated for so long, and we've had plenty of meetings and time spent together. At present, I'm chronically single. Ever since breaking up with my last boyfriend, I haven't looked for anyone for several years."
Zhai Yuanli fell silent for a moment, digesting the information in Qi Xingyi's words. The man's intention was clearly to pursue a relationship with him.
In his work and social interactions with others, Zhai Yuanli did not act as casual and unfettered as he did around Cui Hexun; his demeanor was considerably more mature.
He hadn't yet fully mentally prepared himself for his sudden transformation from an ordinary Beta into an Omega. Moreover, Zhai Yuanli still had no idea how to handle his relationship with Cui Hexun.
Zhai Yuanli fell silent for a moment. "Mr. Qi, I'm very sorry, but I can't give you an answer right now. Because I transformed into an Omega so abruptly, I haven't had any psychological preparation myself, and I've been quite troubled by this whole matter lately. I know you are an exceptionally outstanding Alpha, and though I don't know what you see in me, I still want to thank you for your deep affection. Once things stabilize later on, I will seriously consider your proposal."
