However, Gu Yang shook his head and placed the car keys on the windshield.
"I'm leaving, Auntie. You don't need to worry about a thing. Get a good night's sleep, and act like nothing ever happened!"
With that, Gu Yang turned around and walked out of the underground parking garage.
Wang Chenxi stared blankly at Gu Yang's tall figure as he walked away.
"Mom, what on earth just happened?"
Bursting into tears, Wang Qian threw her arms around Wang Chenxi and sobbed uncontrollably.
Wang Chenxi was even more bewildered.
"Mom, say something! What actually happened?"
Wang Qian shook her head vigorously, her slender body trembling from head to toe.
"Let's go home. We'll talk about it when we get home!"
Clueless, Wang Chenxi could only gaze longingly at the figure that had disappeared around the corner.
She supported Wang Qian as they walked back home.
At a secondhand phone shop.
Gu Yang picked out a smartphone priced at just over five hundred yuan.
The shop didn't have anything cheaper, and besides, he was in a rush.
Although he had half a million yuan sitting in his bank account, that money came from selling the old house and was meant for buying a new one.
He could not touch it.
After getting his phone number reissued, he called Gu Weiguo.
Hearing that everything was fine, Gu Yang reminded him to keep an eye on the online videos before hanging up straight away.
With the military backing them up, handling a minor issue like this was a piece of cake.
He found a pharmacy, bought some sedatives, and immediately popped one pill himself.
Only then did he let out a heavy sigh of relief.
Glancing at the setting sun, he wondered where he should spend the night.
After turning it over in his mind, he realized he still had some time, so he decided to stop by a real estate agency and rent a place first.
He arrived at the bus stop and waited for a short while before the bus arrived.
Gu Yang got on, and finding an empty seat near the aisle, he sat down.
A few more people boarded shortly after.
Just as Gu Yang was pondering how small of a apartment he should rent, an unruly child brandishing a water gun came racing down the aisle.
He ran from front to back, then back to front again.
Whenever he saw someone with tasty food, he would squirt them with his water gun.
Even when people handed over their food, he wasn't satisfied; when a few young women refused to give him theirs, he spat right in their faces.
Passengers nearby tried to gently advise him to stop.
Yet the little brat just made ugly faces at them, sticking out his tongue and mocking them.
Glancing at the real estate listings on his phone, Gu Yang frowned deeply.
Hearing that annoying taunt right now was really starting to get on his nerves.
At the next stop, a few passengers got off.
Passengers who weren't getting off glared at the little brat's mother and voiced their criticisms.
Yet the heavy-set woman completely turned a blind eye and a deaf ear.
She simply sprawled across the back row of seats, kicked off her shoes, and started scrolling through short videos on her phone.
A pungent, sour odor filled the entire bus.
Passengers who couldn't stand the smell began to loudly reproach her.
The heavy-set woman merely rolled her eyes and snapped, "We bought tickets, so we're customers, and the customer is God! You're worrying about things that are none of your business—mind your own!"
With that, she even shook her foul-smelling feet, which she had propped up.
"Then why don't you control your child? Don't you know he's disturbing everyone?"
Unable to hold back any longer, someone spoke up loudly once more.
"This is a public place, why shouldn't children play? Is this place yours? You sure like sticking your nose into other people's business."
Just then, the little brat ran over to a young woman who was standing.
He forcefully yanked up the hem of her skirt.
Startled, the girl hurriedly reached down to block him.
The little brat bolted away with a cackle, shouting at the top of his lungs, "White panties! White panties!"
The girl looked like a student, possessing a very thin skin.
In an instant, her eyes turned red and tears began to stream down her face.
She squatted down, covering her face as she sobbed.
Yet the little brat refused to let the girl off.
He raised his water gun and began spraying it right at her head.
"I'm going to shoot you to death! Shoot you to death! Shoot you to death!" he chanted incessantly.
The surrounding passengers could no longer contain their anger.
One after another, they began to scold him harshly.
"What kind of upbringing is this?"
"Exactly, like parent, like child."
"..."
The heavy-set woman sneered. "Look at you all acting so high and class, throwing a fit just because kids are playing around?"
Hearing this, the little brat raised his water gun and aimed it squarely at the passengers who had spoken up.
"Shut up, or I'll kill all of you! Blech!"
Veins throbbed on Gu Yang's forehead. He stopped looking at the real estate listings.
He opened his phone and started playing the pre-installed game, Plants vs. Zombies.
He needed something to distract his mind.
After showing off his arrogance, the little brat turned around and spat a few more times at the nearest passengers.
Those people were boiling with rage, but feeling utterly helpless against a child, they could only anxiously watch the upcoming stops, hoping to get off the bus as soon as possible.
Suddenly, just as Gu Yang was deeply engrossed in the game, his phone was snatched away.
"Blech! I want to play games too!"
With that, the little brat grabbed Gu Yang's brand-new phone and started playing.
Gu Yang forced down the murderous rage surging in his chest and said, "Give it back!"
Instead, the little brat pointed his water gun and sprayed it right into Gu Yang's face.
A strange red gleam flashed in Gu Yang's eyes.
Inside that water gun... it wasn't water at all. It was urine!
"What is wrong with you people? You're a grown adult, what's wrong with letting a child play for a bit? Why are you so stingy?"
Gu Yang instantly felt the blood rush to his head, and a loud ringing filled his ears.
He hurriedly reached into his pocket to retrieve the newly purchased sedatives, planning to take a couple of pills.
Then—*crack!*
"Blech!"
Gu Yang stood frozen, staring at the sedatives that had been batted out of his hand, scattering all over the floor.
These weren't sedatives for him; they were clearly a dose of instant regret for that little brat.
He never imagined that twice in one day, someone would knock the medicine right out of his hand.
"Are you sick? Are you about to die or something?"
The little brat chuckled as he played with the phone, mocking Gu Yang to his face.
The surrounding passengers joined in with sharp rebukes, while also noticing that something was seriously wrong with Gu Yang.
Yet, that wasn't even the end of it.
"That's my boy, so brave!"
The heavy-set woman actually sat up, gave the little brat a thumbs-up, and praised him.
Everyone stared in bewilderment at this pair. Could there possibly be a more bizarre mother and son?
Then, the very next second!
Everyone was frozen in shock right where they stood.
They saw Gu Yang slowly stand up, wind back, and deliver a flying kick straight at the phone-playing little brat.
The impact sent the child skidding right under the feet of a nearby passenger, who scrambled away in fright.
Clutching his stomach, the little brat instantly let out a string of agonizing shrieks.
Before the heavy-set woman could even react, Gu Yang lunged forward, grabbed the little brat, and slammed him down against the floorboards—
*BANG!*
"Waaaaah! Mommy, Mommy, save me! Help me! Waaaaah!"
The bus fell instantly silent.
As the heavy-set woman finally snapped back to reality, she let out a screech like a slaughtered pig.
"Murder! Someone's murdering my son! Help!"
Exchanging glances, a group of passengers acted with remarkable tacit understanding, stepping shoulder-to-shoulder to block the charging heavy-set woman.
