Having midday tea is a social dining custom unique to the Pearl River Delta region.
When people have some leisure time, three or five close friends or relatives would head to a teahouse, steep a pot of tea, order a few dim sum dishes, and chat while eating. This is what's known as having midday tea.
It is actually a continuation of Cantonese morning tea.
