The inaugural Mid-Autumn Festival Gala was a joint effort by the three largest television stations across the strait and in Hong Kong: CCTV, Taiwan Television, and TVB.
It featured performances by Fei Yu-ching, Tsai Chin, Sandy Lam, Li Lingyu, cross talk performers from all three regions including Ma Ji and Zhao Yan, and traditional opera performers Li Changchun, Li Jialin, and Shang Changrong, with the theme song performed by Li Guyi.
