However, a disagreement arose between him and Huo Ge regarding the release date. Guo Weimin wanted to arrange a domestic release immediately after the film passed censorship. He felt that the movie was of high quality and had a strong completion rate, making it a potential sleeper hit. Huo Ge, on the other hand, insisted on submitting it to the Sundance Film Festival in the United States before scheduling a release. He reasoned that Sundance was relatively friendly to independent productions, and low-budget films like The Paranormal Activity might be even better received there.
