Just then, the head teacher's figure suddenly appeared on the podium. He cleared his throat and said loudly, "A new student is joining us today. Everyone, please quiet down." Feng Wenjun's train of thought was interrupted by the sudden voice. He whipped his head around and saw Qian Yuxi standing gracefully on the podium, a faint smile playing on her lips. She introduced herself softly, "Hello everyone, I'm a new transfer student today. My name is Qian Yuxi. I look forward to getting along with you all."
It was that familiar, melodious voice once again. Feng Wenjun felt his heart skip a beat, as if gently struck by something.
His gaze met Qian Yuxi's in mid-air, and the two exchanged a smile. At that moment, a wonderful sense of telepathic resonance seemed to quietly flow between them. Could they truly be a match made by heaven?
Throughout the entire day, Feng Wenjun was in an exceptionally cheerful mood. To his pleasant surprise, he and Qian Yuxi shared many common topics. Whether discussing coursework or sharing interesting anecdotes from daily life, the two of them chatted with great ease, just like old friends who hadn't seen each other in years.
The day flew by in the blink of an eye, and Feng Wenjun gained a preliminary understanding of Qian Yuxi. He learned that she was the granddaughter of Qian Yuling from the Qian Family, a clan where women held the reins of power—a tradition that had lasted for tens of thousands of years. Rumors had it that this was deeply rooted in a connection with the ancient female emperor Qian Yu. As an outstanding talent of the younger generation, Qian Yuxi was expected to inherit the position of clan leader. Not only was she clever and well-behaved, proficient in the zither, chess, calligraphy, and painting, but she was also a cultivator at the Qi Condensation Stage 2nd Layer.
When Feng Wenjun learned that she was also a cultivator, he couldn't help being somewhat astonished. Legends of cultivation had always circulated among ordinary folk, but he never expected them to be true. Moreover, spiritual qi was scarce on this continent, yet she had managed to reach the Qi Condensation stage at such a young age. Could her family possess some unique cultivation secret? After all, given how long-standing her family's heritage was and its connection to the female emperor, possessing cultivation secrets was hardly surprising. At this thought, a wave of disappointment washed over Feng Wenjun. He was only at the Qi Condensation Stage 1st Layer; compared to her, the gap between them was instantly apparent.
Just then, Xiaoyu suddenly piped up, "What, you feel it too?" Feng Wenjun communicated through telepathy, "Yeah, Master. I feel like someone is staring at you." Xiaoyu said, "And the person staring at you is nearby, and they have the cultivation of the Qi Condensation Stage 3rd Layer." Feng Wenjun sensed his surroundings with his mind and finally spotted that person in a corner not far from the classroom. The person was glaring right at him, his gaze filled with hatred and jealousy. Feng Wenjun thought to himself: Who is he? Why haven't I seen him before? Is he just jealous of my good looks? Oh well, forget him.
The school dismissal bell rang, and Feng Wenjun packed his things, preparing to leave. Qian Yuxi walked up to him and said softly, "Let's walk together so I can get familiar with the place. I just arrived here and haven't had a chance to look around yet." Her voice was as melodious as an oriole singing in the valley, and her eyes revealed determination and intelligence. Feng Wenjun froze for a moment, then smiled and nodded.
Qian Yuxi was dressed in a long white dress, its hem fluttering in the breeze like a fairy stepping out of a wonderland. Her long hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, gently brushing against her fair skin and emitting a faint fragrance. Her delicate face was refined and ethereal, her brows exuded spiritual qi, and her eyes held both gentleness and resolve. A subtle, enigmatic smile always lingered at the corners of her lips, making her feel both approachable and mysterious.
Just as they reached the school gates, a voice called out to them. "Qian Yuxi, I'm taking you home!" The two of them followed the voice and saw that it was none other than that person. Qian Yuxi spoke up, "No need, someone is already taking me." "Is it this pretty boy beside you?" the man said dismissively. Hearing this, Feng Wenjun grew a bit angry: Am I a pretty boy? Are you asking for a beating? He forcefully suppressed the fury burning inside him.
"Bai Shaojie, show some respect! This is my classmate," Qian Yuxi snapped, pointing at him. "Respect? Does Bai Shaojie, young master of the Bai Family, need to show you respect? Your Qian Family isn't what it used to be; they sent you here to arrange a marriage with me for the sake of the clan's future. If it weren't for the fact that you still have some looks, I wouldn't give a damn whether you live or die!" Bai Shaojie struck a cynical, hooligan-like posture.
At this, Qian Yuxi clenched her fists tightly, wanting nothing more than to rush over and beat him senseless, but she held back, her expression one of utter fury. "My affairs have nothing to do with the Qian Family. Please do not slander them." "Ohoho, quite the fiery temper, but I like it—haha! Today, you are coming with me whether you like it or not." With that, Bai Shaojie waved his hand, signaling his subordinates to forcefully drag Qian Yuxi away.
"Let's see who dares touch her." Feng Wenjun stepped forward in a flash, blocking Qian Yuxi. The ripples of spiritual power emanating from his body instantly forced his subordinates back a few paces. Bai Shaojie was also pushed back by the spiritual pressure, barely managing to block it in time. "Oh? Pretty boy, who are you supposed to be? Looks like you're a cultivator after all. But this cultivation is way too weak!" Bai Shaojie dusted off his clothes and said to Feng Wenjun.
"I am Feng Wenjun, young master of the Feng Family," Feng Wenjun replied. Hearing this, Bai Shaojie's mind raced: Could he be Feng Wanliang's son? Surely it can't be such a coincidence! How did I run into him of all people? The Feng Family is ranked at the very top of the three major families! A slight smirk appeared at the corner of Bai Shaojie's lips. "So it's the young master of the Feng Family. Just now, this little brother of yours was only joking. Please don't take offense, Young Master Feng."
He had heard that the young master of the Feng Family rarely left his estate or attended gatherings of the major clans, which was why Bai Shaojie had never laid eyes on him before. Running into him like this was just sheer bad luck on his part. The onlookers chattered excitedly in hushed whispers. Seeing that Bai Shaojie knew when to back down, Feng Wenjun decided not to push the matter further. "Let's go!" Qian Yuxi was stunned at first—he was actually the young master of the Feng Family? She truly hadn't expected that. Then she walked out of the school gates alongside Feng Wenjun, disappearing into the street.
Having kicked a steel plate, Bai Shaojie wore a ferocious expression, thinking to himself: To humiliate me in front of so many people—this grudge is set. No matter how powerful your Feng Family is, I'll make you taste the consequences of crossing me. With that, he stormed away from the school in a rage.
Feng Wenjun and Qian Yuxi walked along the road, showing her around the places he frequented. Time flew by, and before they knew it, they arrived at the entrance of Qian Yuxi's home.
"Thank you for today. If not for you, I don't know what would have happened," Qian Yuxi said, looking at Feng Wenjun.
"It's nothing. I just can't stand people like that," Feng Wenjun replied.
"Bai Shaojie is cunning and holds grudges. Because of me, you've offended him today. You'll need to watch your back around him from now on," Qian Yuxi warned.
"Yeah, I know. Don't worry. You should head inside now!" Feng Wenjun replied, then turned and walked away. Qian Yuxi stood at the doorway, watching his receding figure with a faint smile on her face.
