Eyes Behind the Mask

A legendary mask artist dies, leaving behind secrets darker than his art. Ten years later, his son Ichikawa Shun'o returns home and rescues a wine merchant named Ryoko—only to lose her in a catastrophic explosion. Within weeks, he marries Chifuji Momoe, and they have a daughter born half-deaf and half-blind. When their villa erupts in flames and Shun'o dies from his wounds, detective Asai Kazuo finds young Yukiko standing amid the wreckage, bloodied and silent. As he digs through the ashes for answers, each clue reveals a web of tragedy, obsession, and a truth no one was meant to uncover.
