Taishang Forgetting Emotions!
The Dao of the sages!
Legend has it that mastering this technique allows one to attain sagehood and communicate with the gods!
Su You instantly grew a bit nervous and asked in a low voice, "Tell me, if I accidentally learn this supreme heart sutra and then sneak away—will the Wuyou Sect hunt me down to the ends of the earth?"
How could this guy be so shameless?
Xi Qinghua glanced sideways, sizing up Su You, and said, "Find this Ninth Peak first, and then talk about the future."
"That won't do. A person must look ten steps ahead for every one they take. I need to plan in advance," Su You said, completely unfazed. "What if I master Taishang Forgetting Emotions and establish my own sect?"
Xi Qinghua: ......
And so, that little boy finally left full of resentment, not wanting to speak another word to this man!
Since ancient times, over thousands of years, how many people had ever managed to find the Ninth Peak? And among those, how many had gained any enlightenment? In the end, how many actually achieved anything?
Someone like the founding patriarch of the Wuyou Sect appeared only once every few millennia!
And you dare to boast about establishing your own sect?
If you really managed to learn this supreme heart sutra, even just a shred of its true meaning, the Wuyou Sect would treat you like an honored guest and wine and dine you every single day.
And yet you want to sneak away?
Xi Qinghua's mindset was somewhat ruined; he just wanted to be left alone in peace.
If he had known earlier, he wouldn't have told him about this!
......
"Qianqian, do you know about this Ninth Peak?" Su You asked.
"I seem to have heard Mother mention it once," Su Qian said, sticking out her soft tongue and looking a bit embarrassed. "But I forgot, and only just remembered."
"Oh?" Su You was pleasantly surprised. He hadn't expected Su Qian to have information he could use, and he hurriedly asked, "Then try to recall carefully, what did your mother tell you back then?"
"Hmm..." Su Qian lowered her head, hesitated for a moment, and finally said, "Father looked for it back then and made a discovery in the east, but Mother didn't mention it after that."
The east... Wasn't that the direction close to the Great Wilderness Mountains?
Although he didn't get any more detailed information, Su You was still much happier. The east—that narrowed the scope down considerably. Otherwise, with tens of thousands of small mountains surrounding the main peak, if he had to search them one by one, it would take him till the Year of the Monkey! No wonder no one had been able to find it for thousands of years; just finding this ordinary-looking Ninth Peak wasn't easy, let alone needing "fated affinity" to gain enlightenment.
Su You's eyes brightened with joy. He stroked Su Qian's soft short hair and made up his mind: Target, Taishang Forgetting Emotions!
Whether he could find it or not, he had to try first!
......
Finally, after a night passed, as the sun rose the next morning, bringing purple Qi from the east, the grand opening ceremony officially began!
Several long rainbows streaked across the sky, and seven white-haired elders with the bearing of immortals appeared above the plaza, followed by forty-nine disciples from the previous generation representing the seven main peaks.
They were going to have a duel to showcase their strength and broaden the horizons of these newly arrived cultivators. This was also a competition between the various peaks to see whose disciples were more outstanding!
"Let the ceremony begin!"
Accompanied by an inspiring proclamation, those forty-nine Wuyou Sect disciples actually took to the air together, forming a formation!
The sky was filled with brilliant light feathers, and seven-colored rainbows flowed across the upper plaza like a multicolored ocean.
"The Wuyou Formation!"
"It's said to be a supreme formation that allows those who enter it to be carefree and forget all their troubles!"
All around, a group of new disciples wore looks of yearning and whispered among themselves.
Making people carefree?
Su You found it somewhat strange. Forming a formation to make enemies happy?
No, it should be making the opponent lose their composure and die carefree without any pain. This was a massive killing formation, not as wonderful and peaceful as it looked on the surface!
Su You curiously observed this grand formation. Logically speaking, a formation involving dozens of people should be very difficult to assemble, but this group of disciples moved in an orderly fashion without any chaos, each performing their duties and casting spells.
Su You observed carefully for a while and finally gained some understanding. At the very core of the array were seven disciples with the highest cultivation levels, acting as the foundation of the formation and driving it, while the disciples from the other peaks merely assisted those core disciples. Doing it this way made it much easier.
Formations were also a kind of Great Dao, capable of pooling human strength to defeat the strong with the weak, much like an army in the mortal world—scattered they were a plate of loose sand, but once twisted into a rope, they were unbreakable!
It was rumored that formation grandmasters could form powerful arrays by their own strength alone, capable of slaughtering thousands of troops and horses.
However, this had nothing to do with him...
Su You was just watching the fun. Becoming a formation master required supreme talent. Setting aside whether he could achieve anything, it also required one to painstakingly study the Dao of formations alone, exhausting both mind and spirit. He didn't want to live such a troublesome life!
In comparison, the early stages of immortal cultivation were much simpler. However, Xixi had once said that at advanced stages of cultivation, improvement was no longer simply about absorbing the energy of heaven and earth and releasing human potential, but required "comprehending the Dao." This Dao was the " Heavenly Dao," the three thousand Great Dao. Comprehend it, and you advance; fail to comprehend it, and you would remain stuck in place for the rest of your life, finding it hard to make even an inch of progress.
Cultivation is about "cultivating the Dao," while practice is about "executing spells."
The Dao is boundless, and spells are limitless.
Dao and spells—difficult! Difficult! Difficult!
......
In the sky, the grand formation rose and fell, and the rainbows were incomparably dazzling, making everyone's hearts surge with excitement, wishing they too could learn such an array.
Before long, the forty-nine Wuyou Sect disciples finally dispersed the formation and landed in the plaza one by one. Next up was the dazzling and breathtaking duel between the Seven Peaks!
"Brother Su You, why are there no disciples from Wangqing Peak?" Su Qian asked, tilting her exquisite little face upward.
"Ah, maybe if the disciples of Wangqing Peak made a move, it would be bullying people too much, so the show wouldn't be very entertaining," Su You replied.
"Then when can we go to Wangqing Peak?" Su Qian asked worriedly, feeling that it was more likely that not a single disciple from the previous generation was qualified to enter Wangqing Peak.
"Probably soon," Su You said without hesitation. "With our talent, isn't that a piece of cake?"
Su Qian's expression was somewhat dazed, as if she were pondering something, and she said, "Brother Su You, will Father be on Wangqing Peak?"
"Uh," Su You said in a bit of a dilemma, "I'm not sure about this either..."
He gently stroked Su Qian's short hair with pity and asked softly, "Your father, was he on Wangqing Peak back then?"
Su Qian nodded slightly, her expression turning somewhat desolate, and she whispered, "Mother told me..."
Next, Su Qian slowly recounted the past events of those years.
Su Qian's mother, named Su Meiqing, had also been an innocent and lovely young girl many years ago. She too had passed the trials and joined this long-famed Wuyou Sect.
Su Meiqing had high aptitude and cultivated rapidly, soon joining Wangqing Peak to continue cultivating the more profound Forgetting Emotions Heart Sutra. It was then that she finally met the person to whom she would mistakenly entrust her entire life—Ji Qingfeng!
Ji Qingfeng was the contemporary senior grand disciple of Wangqing Peak at that time. He had a gentle and refined demeanor, and his strength was unfathomable. It was rumored that even the elders of the Wuyou Sect might not necessarily be his match, though of course he had never actually fought an elder, so there might have been a hint of exaggeration.
Yet Ji Qingfeng was indeed the most outstanding disciple in several hundred years, revered by countless people. Su Meiqing was not only exceptionally beautiful, but her talent was also even more outstanding. Feeling that this Ji Qingfeng was very remarkable, she set this contemporary senior grand disciple as her goal and worked hard to catch up.
In the end, as Su Meiqing grew more and more outstanding, she finally drew close to Ji Qingfeng. In this pursuit, Su Meiqing gradually fell deeply in love with this refined and easygoing senior brother, unable to extricate herself. At the same time, Ji Qingfeng also greatly appreciated this junior sister who excelled in both talent and beauty, and the two developed a mutual admiration for each other.
Thus, the two of them naturally fell in love. At first, they were very sweet, but as Su Meiqing's cultivation grew higher and higher, the pressure on Ji Qingfeng also increased—as the most outstanding disciple in several hundred years, he had his own pride; how could he allow himself to be surpassed by his own woman?
Yet he suddenly discovered that no matter how hard he cultivated or how diligent and industrious he was, he could not keep up with Su Meiqing's rate of advancement.
At this rate, he would be surpassed sooner or later.
And so, the legendary Taishang Forgetting Emotions entered Ji Qingfeng's sights.
Ji Qingfeng began searching for the location of the Ninth Peak. During this period, Su Meiqing's strength broke through further, finally surpassing Ji Qingfeng. This made it even harder for Ji Qingfeng to accept; the halo of his past genius was easily stolen by Su Meiqing, and his decades of hard-earned sweat could not compare to Su Meiqing's dozen or so years of cultivation.
Taishang Forgetting Emotions!
The only hope was Taishang Forgetting Emotions!
Although Su Meiqing had never mentioned matters of cultivation after falling in love with Ji Qingfeng, Ji Qingfeng still could not accept his own "foolishness." Yet he searched for many years in vain, walking every corner of every hill near the main peak, but came up empty-handed.
This could only indicate one thing: he was not a person fated for the Ninth Peak.
Then why was that?
Ji Qingfeng's talent was beyond doubt, even if he was surpassed by Su Meiqing, even if he was no longer the strongest disciple, and even if Su Meiqing had already become the new generation's senior grand sister.
Then there was only one possibility...
Forgetting emotions!
Taishang Forgetting Emotions—cutting off all seven emotions and six desires, single-mindedly yearning for the Great Dao. How could he find that legendary supreme heart sutra when he was so deeply in love with Su Meiqing and unable to let go of his feelings?
Ji Qingfeng resolutely parted ways with Su Meiqing, ignoring her dissuasion and pleas, to pursue what he called the "Great Dao."
He didn't even know that Su Meiqing at that time... was already pregnant.
In a fit of anger, Su Meiqing left the sect and traveled far to the Great Wilderness Mountains—she thought Ji Qingfeng couldn't help but come out to look for her, and she kept waiting...
And this wait lasted another ten years...
Ji Qingfeng never stepped out of the Wuyou Sect even once.
Whether it was because he still failed to find the Ninth Peak, fell into despair, and didn't dare to go out and look for Su Meiqing, or because he concentrated solely on cultivation, day after year, waiting only for the day of his breakthrough.
But when would that day arrive?
