Chapter 14

After leaving the black market, Qin Xiao felt it was still early, so he found a cafe to pass some time.
Ordering a cup of coffee, Qin Xiao took a seat by the window and quietly watched the cherry blossom trees along the street.
A gentle spring breeze swept past, sending cherry blossoms drifting down from the trees to land on pedestrians and on the road, alongside a slowly flowing stream that gave the scene an exceptionally picturesque beauty.
Qin Xiao greatly enjoyed the moment because it allowed his mind and body to completely unwind.
Just as Qin Xiao was taking in the scenery, a woman wearing sunglasses walked over and sat down beside him.
"Don't move!" the woman ordered, leaning in close to his ear.
Qin Xiao glanced under the table. A miniature pistol was pressed against his waist.
Normally, he was fully capable of resisting, but the thought of potentially injuring innocent customers in the cafe made him give up.
Qin Xiao nodded slightly and cooperated, saying, "Alright, I'll cooperate with you. Just be careful your gun doesn't go off."
"Huh?"
Vermouth was somewhat surprised by Qin Xiao's reaction. Generally, when someone had a gun pointed at them, they would show at least a trace of panic, yet Qin Xiao appeared completely calm.
*This man is rather interesting.*
Looking at the handsome man before her with a gaze full of interest, Vermouth said, "As long as you behave and don't make any sudden moves, my gun won't go off!"
Qin Xiao glanced sideways at the woman. Her slender legs and the two magnificent, plump mounds straining against her chest made him swallow hard.
*This woman looks so familiar! Have I seen her somewhere before?*
"Excuse me, Miss, what is it you're after? Are you here for money or for my body?"
Qin Xiao asked the woman cautiously.
"Me? I'm after your body!" the woman said with a smile, her tone seemingly carrying a double meaning.
Qin Xiao was stunned by her words.
*I know I'm handsome, but surely not to the point of being targeted for my body!*
Seeing Qin Xiao's dazed expression, Vermouth suddenly felt like teasing him.
At that moment, two people stepped out of a car parked outside. Their waists bulged noticeably, clearly indicating they were carrying guns.
The appearance of these two instantly made her expression grow grave.
"Miss, could you try to keep your hand steady?"
Qin Xiao complained while glancing over at the two individuals.
*Aren't those Judy and Andre? Why are they showing up here? Could this woman be Vermouth?!*
"Do as I say and I'll let you go. Otherwise, you know what happens to you!"
Hearing this, Qin Xiao obediently nodded.
"Now take my hand and pretend we're a couple."
As the two figures drew closer, Vermouth grew increasingly tense.
"Darling, what would you like?"
"Hmm, whatever you order is fine by me."
......
No matter how convincingly the two of them acted, Andre still cast a suspicious glance their way.
Just as Vermouth was about to be exposed, Qin Xiao pulled her into his arms and kissed her.
Faced with Qin Xiao's action, Vermouth's eyes filled with astonishment. She never expected that Qin Xiao, who had just been a hostage, would be so bold.
"Andre, what are you looking at? Did you find that woman?"
"No. I thought that woman over there might be her just now, but it's just a couple."
"That's impossible. I clearly saw her come inside—how could she have just vanished? Could she have escaped out the back?"
From their conversation, Vermouth realized all too well that she had nearly blown her cover just now.
If not for Qin Xiao, she probably would have been taken away by now.
Yet he had the audacity to actually kiss her—something she found completely unacceptable. However, with the two agents still present, she could not make a scene.
After searching the cafe once more and failing to find Vermouth, the two prepared to pack up and leave.
Before departing, Andre glanced back at Qin Xiao and the woman, who were still locked in a kiss.
He couldn't help but sigh with emotion, "These two youngsters are really deeply in love."
It wasn't until Judy and Andre drove away in their car that Vermouth finally pushed Qin Xiao away.
Qin Xiao was momentarily dazed after being pushed away, as he was still lingering on the sensation of the kiss just moments ago.
Seeing Qin Xiao's reaction, Vermouth lightly wiped her lips and offered a charming smile.
"How did it feel just now?"
"Soft and sweet. Just like a jelly," Qin Xiao answered honestly.
Hearing Qin Xiao's description, Vermouth's ears gradually turned red.
"Then would you like to try it again?"
Though Vermouth spoke the most seductive words, her hand reached into her bag to retrieve the miniature pistol she had hidden away moments before.
"Are you looking for this?"
Vermouth looked up and saw that the pistol previously resting in her bag was now resting quietly in Qin Xiao's hand.
"You! When did you get your hands on it? How did I not notice?!"
"Right when you were lost in your own little trance!"
Qin Xiao looked at Vermouth with a smile.
To an outsider, Qin Xiao's smile would appear bright and handsome, but in Vermouth's eyes, it looked like the grin of a demon.
"Who on earth are you?" Vermouth asked, eyeing him vigilantly.
Ordinary people didn't possess skills sharp enough to snatch something from her without her even realizing it.
"Me? My name is Qin Xiao, and I'm a police officer."
"Qin Xiao... Qin Xiao! You're that Dragon of the Police World."
"Oh, I never expected such a beautiful lady to have heard of me."
"Inspector Qin's great reputation has long spread all over Little Japan. But as a police officer, why would you help me?"
Qin Xiao leaned in close, whispering into her ear, "Secrets give a man mystery and charm, so you can slowly guess. However, I'm confiscating your gun, otherwise it might accidentally hurt someone."
Once Qin Xiao finished speaking, Vermouth already understood that he knew her true identity. Just as she wanted to press him further, Qin Xiao simply smiled and walked away.
Seeing him leave, Vermouth also prepared to get up and leave so she could properly investigate Qin Xiao's background.
However, a waiter walked over. "Excuse me, Miss. Could you please settle your bill?"
"What? Didn't the man who just walked out pay for his check?"
"No, Miss. He said that you were treating today as a token of your gratitude for his help."
The waiter's expression suggested he thought Vermouth was trying to dine and dash.
Just as she picked up her phone to call the police, Vermouth handed the money to the waiter and stormed out of the cafe in a rage.
*This is getting interesting! We will definitely meet again, Qin Xiao!*
Walking down the street, Qin Xiao suddenly sneezed.
"I wonder who's missing me this time."
Fiddling with the silver miniature pistol in his hand, the corners of Qin Xiao's mouth curved upward.
"I didn't expect a simple outing to yield such a special harvest. Vermouth, is it? What a thorny rose."
