Warm and gentle sunlight filtered through the thin clouds, scattering like golden gauze in a mottled pattern across the winding paths of the residential complex. Some of those fine patches of light resembled lines in an abstract painting, while others were like lively little elves dancing joyfully on the ground, adding a sense of warmth and coziness to the tranquil afternoon. A taxi slowly pulled over to the side of the road, and its doors opened gently as the Nohara family stepped out one by one. Heavy suitcases were dragged out from the trunk, the rollers scraping against the ground to produce a faint yet distinct sound, as if announcing their return to this quiet community. Misae walked at the front, wearing a simple yet elegant dress that fluttered slightly in the breeze. Her gaze swept inadvertently over a neighboring auntie who was sweeping the pavement intently, a flash of surprise instantly crossing her eyes. The neighbor was keeping her head down, fully engrossed in sweeping up the pile of withered yellow leaves on the ground, seemingly oblivious to everything around her.
