The restaurant was brilliantly lit. Although every table was separated by beaded curtains, it did little to block the view. A sudden silence fell, and many customers cast questioning glances. In their eyes, the woman in glasses was simply being unreasonable and playing the victim after getting a good deal. In truth, many of the pets people brought were house pets, not strays; they weren't dirty. The restaurant owner’s amiable face darkened instantly. He leaned in closer and hissed, "Miss, I advise you not to be ignorant of the situation. If you knew who you were offending..."
