"Oh, that's where a new friend of ours is building a new house."
With that, He Jiong wore an expression of surprise.
"You might not believe it, but our Mushroom House used to be his home. Through all sorts of coincidences, our production team bought his place, and now that he's back with nowhere to live, he has no choice but to build a new one."
Upon hearing He Jiong's story, Mao Buyi and Li Xueqin couldn't help looking astonished.
"Really, that much of a coincidence?!"
Mao Buyi chimed in softly from the side, "Just now, I saw that the commotion over there looked pretty big!"
Hearing this, He Jiong grew quite curious as well. Ever since construction had started over there, he hadn't gone over to take a look.
"Is that so? I haven't been over to check in the last two days. I'll find a chance to go see what's going on."
Hearing this, Li Xueqin asked with some puzzlement, "Aren't we free right now? The sun hasn't set yet either, why don't we go take a peek?"
He Jiong shook his head and explained with a smile, "He isn't very used to appearing in front of the cameras. Since we're broadcasting live the whole time, going over right now might cause him some trouble. Let's wait for the right opportunity."
Hearing this, Li Xueqin grew even more curious.
"Don't we start broadcasting every day at 8:00? Let's go take a look tomorrow before 8:00."
Hearing this, He Jiong tilted his head and thought about it.
"That works too. Young people really do think fast."
Mao Buyi's eyes also showed a trace of curiosity.
Being so close to the Back to Field production team—and with Back to Field currently broadcasting live—finding a few opportunities to appear on camera was practically effortless. Afterward, posting a few videos could easily build up some fame on the internet.
Yet judging by He Jiong's words, this person seemed to want nothing to do with Back to Field.
This genuinely puzzled him a bit.
Basically, anyone else who found out that celebrities were nearby—even without knowing who those celebrities were—would come over to take a look and join in the excitement.
Yet this person seemed completely indifferent.
Not long after, Huang Lei finished cleaning up the kitchen, and the group returned to the Mushroom House to chat and sing. Amidst their cheerful laughter and chatter, time ticked away until 10:00 PM.
The first day of the live broadcast came to an end.
"All right, the live broadcast for the first day has ended."
When Director Wang Zhengyu's voice rang out, everyone except Li Xueqin let out an involuntary, collective sigh of relief.
Although they had all performed very naturally today and no broadcasting mishaps had occurred, the pressure in their hearts was truly immense.
"What? Are you guys under that much pressure?"
Hearing the sighs all around her, Li Xueqin asked with a puzzled look.
At her words, Mao Buyi widened his eyes and stared at her in disbelief.
"What? Aren't you nervous at all? This is a live broadcast!"
Since the broadcast was off, Mao Buyi's voice was much louder, and the expression on his face was a lot more natural.
Even He Jiong on the side smiled and asked, "Xueqin, are you really not nervous?"
Hearing this, Li Xueqin said with a nonchalant expression, "What do I have to be nervous about?"
"I don't have any image to maintain."
As she spoke, she held out one hand, bending down a finger for each point she listed.
"If you want looks, I have no looks."
"If you want a figure, I have no figure."
"If you want scandals, I have no scandals. The time when I'm most popular with men is when I'm rushing for a flight or a train."
"Besides, I'm not a celebrity who needs to maintain a persona. At the end of the day, I'm just a stand-up comedian. When I'm up on stage, I always make myself the butt of the joke—any face I could possibly lose, I lost a long time ago."
"You tell me, what else is there for me to be afraid of? He can broadcast however he wants; let alone just broadcasting daily life, as long as he's not broadcasting himself taking a bath or going to the bathroom, he can stream whatever he likes."
Hearing her words, the other three couldn't help laughing continuously.
Just at that moment, however, Director Wang Zhengyu suddenly wore a bizarre smile on his face.
"Um, let me interrupt you for a second."
Hearing his voice, the four of them instinctively looked over.
"Well, actually, I was just teasing you guys. The live broadcast hasn't ended."
At his words, Mao Buyi's face flushed red in an instant.
By then, however, no one was paying attention to him anymore; everyone's gaze was fixed entirely on Li Xueqin.
Li Xueqin's eyes widened. She pointed a trembling finger at herself and said in utter disbelief, "So everything I just said was broadcasted live?"
Wang Zhengyu nodded with a mischievous grin.
Seeing this, Li Xueqin's whole body relaxed. She sat cross-legged on the floor in a carefree manner, just like she was on the cozy heated brick bed back home, and said nonchalantly, "It's fine, whatever. I don't have any image left to ruin anyway, and besides, I don't have any endorsement deals."
Hearing this, Wang Zhengyu smiled and glanced at his watch.
"All right, the broadcast is truly stopped this time. It will start promptly at 8:00 tomorrow morning. If you don't want the live camera lenses to capture what you look like completely bare-faced, you'd better get yourselves sorted out before 8:00."
With that, he turned around and walked straight out. The indicator lights on all the equipment had gone dark; it seemed recording had genuinely stopped.
Seeing him walk out, Mao Buyi whispered, "The director of your show is genuinely evil!"
Huang Lei raised an eyebrow and smiled mischievously, "Tell me, which variety show director is ever a good person?"
Hearing this, Mao Buyi nodded in deep agreement.
Meanwhile, the viewers in the livestream were laughing like crazy over Wang Zhengyu's sneaky little stunt just now.
"The production team's director has way too many tricks up his sleeve. Look how flustered Mao Buyi was!"
"Haha, seriously! Didn't you guys see Maomao's expression just now? He was having an existential crisis."
"Gotta say, Li Xueqin is truly natural. Basically, she's the exact same on camera as she is off camera."
"Actually, Li Xueqin is right. She really doesn't have those pretentious habits; she's such a genuine person."
...
Early the next morning.
Under the expectant gazes of Li Xueqin and Mao Buyi, He Jiong and Huang Lei led them to the construction site of Yun Mu's new house.
Although it was only just turning 7:00, work had already started here.
"Xiaomu, we've come to see you!"
He Jiong looked at Yun Mu's back in the distance and shouted loudly.
"Teacher He? Teacher Huang?"
Yun Mu hurried over, looking at them in puzzlement.
"Teacher He, Teacher Huang, aren't you guys broadcasting live? Why did you suddenly come here?"
Hearing his words, He Jiong curled his lips, turned his head sideways, glanced at him out of the corner of his eye, and put on an unhappy act.
"Hmph, someone back there said that when our livestream ended, he'd come over to see us. In the end, we still had to come see you."
Seeing him act like this, Yun Mu couldn't help finding it a bit amusing—he was acting just like a child.
"Teacher He, I didn't know what time your livestream would end, did I? Besides, I was busy until 12:00 last night, so I didn't want to go over and disturb you."
Hearing this, He Jiong broke into a radiant smile.
"All right, I'm just kidding. Our broadcast times are from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM."
"Mao Mao and Xueqin saw the huge commotion over here while digging bamboo shoots yesterday and were very curious. So today, right before the broadcast started, I brought them over to take a look."
With that, he stepped aside to reveal the two people standing behind him and introduced them to Yun Mu, "This is Mao Mao, Mao Buyi, and that is Li Xueqin."
Then, he introduced Yun Mu to them.
"This is Yun Mu, our new friend."
Yun Mu looked at the two of them and gave a hearty smile.
"Hello, you two. I actually already know who you are."
