Tang Cheng did not perceive these shifts in his life with any particular clarity. He was not one for socializing, yet his appearance and talent drew smiles from everyone he met. Consequently, even when people treated him with greater warmth or reverence, he remained largely oblivious. In truth, this stemmed from his lack of emotional intelligence. He had been a shut-in in his past life, and that remained mostly true in this one. With so little human interaction, he was simply unversed in the ways of the world. If Yu Hai himself was unhappy, he wouldn't force a smile, so when he saw others smiling at him, he took it at face value. He never dwelled on the hidden meanings behind a person's behavior or words; he lacked the mental circuitry for it and simply couldn't decipher such things. For instance, last week, while attending a lecture with students from the second class of the composition department, a classmate whose name and face Yu Hai didn't recognize leaned over during the break to ask how to go about publishing original works. Yu Hai replied based on his own experience: if one had confidence in the work, they could enter this year's songwriting competition; if they wanted to test the waters, they could post it in the music union’s pool, where singers and music companies often scouted for songs.
