Chapter 2

Chuxuan reacted with bodily instinct, barely dodging a punch from Thunder Smoke Cannon, and then spun around to flee into the distance.
Chuxuan could sense the immense power of the two men behind him. The only reason he had managed to evade Thunder Smoke Cannon's punch just now was because Thunder Smoke Cannon had been careless; the next time, Chuxuan would absolutely not have the ability to dodge.
"Kid, you can't escape," Thunder Smoke Cannon said with a sneer as he watched Chuxuan running away.
In Thunder Smoke Cannon's eyes, Chuxuan was merely an ordinary person. For him to actually think he could escape the palm of his hand was nothing short of a pipe dream.
Chuxuan did not dare to look back, fleeing desperately forward. He simply had no time to figure out what his actual situation was or why he had suddenly appeared here.
Meanwhile, Thunder Smoke Cannon and Calamity Seed watched Chuxuan running ahead without the slightest bit of urgency. In the eyes of the two men, Chuxuan's speed was simply too slow, and they had no fear of failing to catch him.
"Kid, come over here obediently! That way I can still grant you a quick death," Thunder Smoke Cannon said with narrowed eyes and a faint smile. Though his face wore a smile, it gave off a bone-chilling feeling.
Hearing the voice of this fat monk, Chuxuan did not dare to stop for even a second, fleeing forward with all his might.
In this pitch-black forest, Chuxuan could only grope his way forward relying on the moonlight, having no idea where he was heading. All he could do was run forward, hoping to shake off the two ferocious thugs behind him.
"Kid, stop running."
At that moment, Chuxuan discovered that the distance between himself and the two men behind him seemed to have never changed at all; that voice sounded as though it were right beside his ear.
Thunder Smoke Cannon and Calamity Seed watched Chuxuan fleeing ahead like a cat playing with a mouse, following leisurely behind him as if they thoroughly enjoyed this feeling.
Chuxuan looked around, searching for a chance to shake off the two men behind him.
Unfortunately, all along this path, the surrounding area was nothing but an unchanging forest, offering no opportunity whatsoever.
Just as Chuxuan was on the verge of exhaustion, a sudden flash of light appeared before his eyes, and a golden radiance illuminated the way ahead.
Chuxuan looked closely and saw that the golden radiance was actually being emitted by a figure. This miraculous scene before him thoroughly shocked Chuxuan.
Chuxuan could not help but stop in his tracks, looking at the figure that had appeared ahead. A faint golden glow radiated around the person, within which appeared the outline of an elderly man with the air of an immortal.
Chuxuan looked at the old man, and his very first thought was that this person before him was definitely extraordinary. With a head of white hair, long white beard, and an aged face, his eyes appeared deep and majestic. He wore a dark Taoist robe, and with a single step, he instantly crossed dozens of meters, arriving right before Chuxuan in the blink of an eye.
The shock on Chuxuan's face did not diminish in the slightest. Looking at the old Taoist priest before him, he could not help but feel a sense of awe welling up inside, and he quickly and respectfully bowed to the priest. "Taoist Master, please save me! Those two men want to harm me."
At that moment, Thunder Smoke Cannon and Calamity Seed, who had been pursuing Chuxuan, immediately halted their steps upon catching sight of the old Taoist priest, and even began backing away continuously.
However, when the old Taoist priest cast his gaze toward the two of them, the once wildly arrogant pair now stared at the old Taoist priest with expressions of extreme vigilance, not daring to move even the slightest bit.
The two men bowed respectfully to the old Taoist priest. "We pay our respects to the Old Celestial Master!"
"You people of Quanxing, what brings you to my Longhu Mountain?" the old Taoist priest asked with a completely detached expression.
"We mean no harm, we were just passing through! Just passing through!" Thunder Smoke Cannon and Calamity Seed stammered, looking at the Old Celestial Master with timid, cowering expressions like mice that had spotted a cat.
"In that case, why haven't you left yet?" the Old Celestial Master said, his face devoid of a single trace of emotion.
"Yes, yes..."
"Old Celestial Master, we are leaving right now, leaving right away!"
With that, Thunder Smoke Cannon and Calamity Seed rapidly retreated backward. Once they had backed far enough away, they turned around and bolted from the spot, terrified of being even half a step too slow.
Chuxuan watched the two men depart in a hurry. Their speed was extremely fast, though their appearance was somewhat wretched.
However, at this moment, Chuxuan also couldn't help but feel a flicker of fortune. Judging by the speed at which the two men had fled, he knew that had they gotten serious just now, he would have had absolutely no chance of escaping.
At this very moment, Chuxuan felt an even greater curiosity about this world. Just what kind of world was this, and how did these people possess such terrifying abilities? It filled Chuxuan's heart with a yearning desire.
Just then, the old Taoist priest glanced at the departing Thunder Smoke Cannon and Calamity Seed, then turned his gaze back to Chuxuan.
"Hmm?" A flash of surprise crossed the old Taoist priest's eyes.
At that moment, Chuxuan felt as though his entire body had been thoroughly scanned by the old Taoist priest before him, leaving not a single secret hidden anywhere on his person.
At this point, Chuxuan also looked at the old Taoist priest in front of him with a nervous expression. Those two men had just addressed him as the Old Celestial Master of Longhu Mountain.
As far as Chuxuan knew, Longhu Mountain was a sacred Taoist cultivation ground, and the Celestial Master of Longhu Mountain was undoubtedly the most powerful person on the mountain.
"Young man, what is your name?" The Old Celestial Master looked at Chuxuan and asked at that moment, a hint of a benevolent smile on his face.
Chuxuan respectfully said to the Old Celestial Master, "This junior, Chuxuan, pays his respects to the Old Celestial Master."
"Young man, do you know me?" the Old Celestial Master asked Chuxuan with a slight smile.
"I don't. But I just heard those two fellows address you that way."
"A clever little fellow, after all," the Old Celestial Master said to Chuxuan with a hint of a smile.
"Then why were you being hunted down by those two people from Quanxing?" the Old Celestial Master asked Chuxuan.
"I'm not too sure about that either. I just woke up a moment ago, and after waking up I couldn't remember anything at all. The moment I woke up, I saw those two individuals; it seemed they wanted to get their hands on a treasure on my body." Chuxuan did not hide anything and recounted the whole matter.
"So that's how it is." Comprehension dawned in the Old Celestial Master's heart as he looked at Chuxuan and asked, "Kid, would you be willing to take me as your master?"
Hearing the Old Celestial Master's words, a flash of joy crossed Chuxuan's eyes. Although Chuxuan was not clear on the exact extent of the Old Celestial Master's strength, he knew just how powerful the Old Celestial Master was simply from the way those two fellows had changed their demeanor in his presence.
Furthermore, Chuxuan had now arrived in this unfamiliar world where he knew no one, and coupled with the pursuit he had just suffered, he felt an urgent desire to elevate his own strength so that he would have the power to survive in this world.
Therefore, after thinking all of this through, Chuxuan respectfully bowed to the Old Celestial Master. "Chuxuan pays respects to Master!"
"Good disciple, from now on you are this old man's final closed-door disciple," the Old Celestial Master said, nodding in satisfaction as he looked at Chuxuan.
Chuxuan respectfully followed by the Old Celestial Master's side, accompanying him up onto Longhu Mountain.
