The Meng Family is an economic pillar of Country H, holding the lifelines of multiple sectors in its economy. Among its subsidiaries, there are at least ten multi-billion-level publicly traded companies, with the parent company being the trillion-level Guokun Group. The father, Meng Yunheng, has dominated the business world for many years, while the mother, Lin Zhiyun, is a refined lady from a distinguished scholarly family.
As for Meng Huaijin, he is twenty-five years old. He is the only son of Meng Yunheng, the chairman of the Meng Family. With striking, ethereal looks, an exceptionally handsome figure, and a distinguished demeanor, he earned dual degrees from a top university in Country M at a very young age. A financial tycoon in the business world, he is the youngest person on the Forbes global billionaire rankings, has been interviewed multiple times by Country H's financial press, and has graced the covers of business magazines, in addition to serving two years in the military at the age of eighteen.
At this moment, Meng Huaijin is in their bridal chamber, located in Qingfeng Manor, a luxury villa district in Yancheng where every inch of land is worth a fortune—the pinnacle of the Meng Family's real estate ventures.
He leans forward, resting his arms on the railing of the balcony outside the master bedroom, holding a glass of whiskey. His entire presence exudes a noble and aristocratic air, blending gentle elegance with the quiet authority of someone in a position of power.
Turning around, he leans back against the railing and looks at the decorated bridal chamber. In his mind emerges the image of that girl he met at a gala all those years ago—elegant, proudly resilient, and somewhat lively. By now, the young girl from back then should have blossomed into a graceful and charming young woman. A smile, so faint he doesn't even notice it himself, touches his cold expression.
"Ring, ring, ring..." His face returns to its previous aloof expression. Bending down to pick up his phone, he sees that the call is from Xiao Zhengting. The Xiao, Xu, Liu, Wu, and Meng families are generations-old family friends. Furthermore, Xu Junxi is the only son of the political commissar Xu; Liu Zhenyu is the eldest son of Country H's top entertainment company; Wu Yu is the fifteenth-generation heir of the Wu family of Tanzhou; and Xiao Zhengting is the third son of the Xiao Overseas Trading Group. The young men are childhood friends who grew up together.
"Hello, A-Jin. What's this? Getting married tomorrow and you aren't coming out to hang out with us today?" Xu Junxi's teasing voice comes through the phone, and Xiao Zhengting immediately jumps in to join the fun, "Yeah, yeah! Who would've thought our President Meng would be the type to ditch his friends for a woman?" The sound of the others laughing echoes from the other end of the line.
Meng Huaijin parts his thin lips and asks, "Are you guys at Supreme?" The Supreme Club is the group's usual hangout spot and a business owned by Xiao Zhengting's family.
"Yes, yes, come over quickly! Tonight's bill is on old Xiao!" Liu Zhenyu yells at the top of his lungs from the other end.
Putting down his glass, he says, "I'm on my way. Wait for me."
He picks up the suit jacket draped over the chair and walks out the door. A Maybach is waiting at the entrance, and the chauffeur opens the door for Meng Huaijin, who gets inside.
Before long, he arrives at the Supreme Club, an upscale entertainment venue in Yancheng that perfectly exemplifies the glitz, glamour, and decadent lifestyle of the upper class.
After he steps out of the car, the manager hurries over. "Mr. Meng."
Meng Huaijin nods politely in acknowledgment, then walks into the club and heads toward the supreme private parlor.
"Oh, the groom-to-be is here! You need to punish yourself with three drinks." Xiao Zhengting laughs.
"Right, right, right!" Everyone starts chiming in and making a fuss all at once.
Meng Huaijin chuckles softly and says, "Just three drinks. I can't afford to mess things up for tomorrow."
The others understand what is on Meng Huaijin's mind, and no one continues to egg him on.
Once the drinks are finished, Wu Yu says, "Do you remember that matter you asked me to look into? Zhu Yan."
Hearing that name makes Meng Huaijin's cold face turn even frostier. Then Liu Zhenyu chimes in, "He was arranged by Wu Na."
Meng Huaijin stares at Liu Zhenyu and asks, "Wu Huaixin's sister?" A faint impression stirs in his mind.
"Yes, she's the one who tried to strike up a conversation with you at my family's gala last time. She's been spreading rumors in the socialite circle that you and she share a romantic affection."
"Shameless." Meng Huaijin tightens his grip on the glass, the veins on his hand bulging.
"She's the one who got Zhu Yan to approach your better half," Wu Yu adds.
