Then she took out some paper and a pen to write a letter, pouring out all the recent troubles and frustrations she had encountered in the City of Mondstadt.
After finishing the letter, Eula wore a conflicted expression. What kind of pen name should she use?
She thought about it for a long time, and finally wrote at the very bottom of the letter: A Sprig of Seafoam.
After that, she mailed the letter according to the address written on the letter from the Abyss Prince.
...
The Abyss.
"Prince, I have brought it to you." Big Wise held a letter in his hands and said respectfully.
Lin Feng sat upon his throne, while Noelle, dressed in a maid outfit, massaged his shoulders.
"Ah, that feels good. Right there, a little harder." Lin Feng was thoroughly satisfied with Noelle's massage.
He took the letter, opened it, and read it through once.
Then Lin Feng waved his hand, tearing a rift in space.
He reached his hand inside and pulled it back out, holding a pen and a piece of paper.
Before long, Lin Feng finished writing a reply and handed it to Big Wise.
"Take this letter to the postman, and have him put it in Eula's mailbox. Remember, do not let him tell anyone about this, or else you should say it like this: 'Postman, you wouldn't want anything bad to happen to your wife at home, would you?'"
"Yes, I understand." Big Wise acknowledged the order and withdrew.
However, Big Wise did not quite understand the deeper meaning behind the Prince's words. Would this really make the postman obediently work for the Abyss?
After Eula handed her letter to the postman, he was intercepted by Big Wise not long after leaving the City of Mondstadt and dragged off to the prison of the Abyss.
By the time Lin Feng finished writing his letter, Big Wise brought it back and handed it to the postman.
Hovering in midair, Big Wise recited the exact words Lin Feng had instructed him to say to the postman.
"Postman, you wouldn't want your wife to be taken care of by someone else, would you?"
Upon hearing this, the postman's expression instantly changed, and he decisively agreed to help Big Wise deliver the letter.
Even though Lin Feng said that to Big Wise, if the postman had ultimately refused, he wouldn't have resorted to any violence anyway.
After all, the Abyss intends to act like the good guys in the future.
To this end, Lin Feng had specifically instructed Big Wise not to harm the postman—just a verbal threat would suffice.
If the postman had refused, they would have simply thrown millions of Mora at him until he agreed to work for them.
It was a pity, however, that the postman did not survive the test of the first round, thus missing out on a job paying millions of Mora a year.
It was worth noting that several people in the City of Mondstadt had already successfully passed the test of the first round and were now enjoying an annual salary of several million Mora.
Their sole responsibility was to provide intelligence for the Abyss within the City of Mondstadt and spread rumors.
...
The next day.
Eula allowed herself a rare sleep-in.
For the first time in years, she felt truly at leisure.
Without her work, she felt a bit out of place.
Upon waking, Eula acted like an impatient young girl and decided to check her mailbox for a reply.
Even though she knew that, given delivery speeds, it was impossible to receive a reply today.
The moment Eula opened her mailbox, she froze in astonishment, for a letter was resting quietly inside.
Unsealing it, she noticed the handwriting matched that of the previous letter—strong and vigorous, clearly penned by the same person.
Eula immediately clutched the letter in her hand and ran back into her house.
She unfolded the letter, which read as follows:
A Sprig of Seafoam, I was very glad to receive your reply.
I have heard of your troubles. In my view, the people of Mondstadt are simply prejudiced against you.
Furthermore, I suspect this recent incident may be a deliberate frame-up.
Of course, others merely provided the spark.
From your account, I understand that the people of Mondstadt have held hostility toward you for many years.
This time, that hostility merely erupted through a fuse.
Even without this incident, the moment you made a single mistake, the people of Mondstadt would point their anger at you—and even if you made no mistake at all, they would invent any excuse to accuse you.
Perhaps you should do some traveling and come to my domain. My country welcomes you at any time.
Sender: The Abyss Prince.
After finishing the letter, Eula fell into deep thought. The analysis in the letter was not without reason.
First, could someone really be plotting against her from the shadows this time? If so, who could it be?
Did this person have any connection to Noelle's disappearance?
Eula could not make sense of it and decided to ask Noelle's close friend, Eolyn.
Eolyn was still practicing her swordsmanship today, hoping to join the Knights of Favonius in the future.
Seeing Eula approaching, Eolyn called out, "Senior Eula."
Eolyn did not believe that Eula would harm Noelle, because there was no animosity whatsoever between the two of them, and Eula was not a bad person.
Eolyn even felt that the people of Mondstadt had lost their minds lately.
The idea that Eula had murdered Noelle was sheer nonsense, plain for anyone with eyes to see.
First of all, murder requires a basic motive—was it a personal vendetta or for money?
Eula and Noelle had a reasonably good relationship, so a vendetta could be ruled out.
As for money, that was even more impossible; Eula's family, the Lawrence Clan, still held immense wealth in Mondstadt.
Yet people frequently came to Eolyn to ask how she viewed Eula's alleged murder of Noelle.
Every time, Eolyn would state that Eula could never have killed Noelle, and she would lay out her reasoning.
Others would retort, "That's Eula! That's someone from the Lawrence Clan! Does she need a reason to kill Noelle?"
Of course, a fundamental reason why Eolyn trusted Eula was that she knew Noelle wasn't dead at all.
Noelle had told her personally, saying she was going to travel in Lin Feng's domain, though she was forbidden from telling anyone else about it.
"Eolyn, you believe me, don't you?" Eula asked with a hint of uncertainty.
"Of course, Senior Eula. Noelle respects you deeply, and so do I."
"Thank you. May I ask you something? Has Noelle really disappeared? And have there been any suspicious individuals around lately? I suspect Noelle may have been kidnapped, and someone engineered this conspiracy behind the scenes to strike a blow at the credibility of the Knights of Favonius."
Eolyn fell silent, lowering her head slightly.
After a long moment, she raised her head, looked earnestly into Eula's eyes, and said, "Noelle told me not to tell anyone else about this, but I believe Senior Eula is someone who can be trusted."
With that, Eolyn revealed the matter of Noelle finding a boyfriend and told her all about Lin Feng.
"Lin Feng?" Eula recognized the name; when she went to visit Noelle a few days prior, the person she had seen there seemed to be called Lin Feng.
