They never expected it to turn out like this. They had thought Cyno was going to tell a joke that would make everyone roar with laughter, not a bone-chilling pun that made them feel as though they had plunged into an icy cave!
"See? A joke with a proper buildup achieves an unexpected effect," Cyno said. "You didn't need to suppress your laughter just for the sake of classroom discipline—holding it in is bad for you."
Yet Cyno remained convinced that the students weren't laughing simply because of classroom discipline, and he urged them not to hold it back lest it harm their health. From beginning to end, Cyno never once suspected that his jokes might not actually be funny.
