Chapter 3

As the incarnation of the Terminal Star, he was the embodiment of Finality itself.
Within the Little Garden, he represented the end of the universe, bearing the Ultimate Trial of humanity—an Authority holding equal weight to the Wind of Decadence.
Therefore, his avatar was both impeccably handsome and utterly majestic. Influenced by Finality while in the Little Garden, his emotions had grown detached; only those ranked in the double digits or higher could withstand the pressure of Finality and interact with him normally.
Fortunately, having broken free from the Little Garden and arrived in the Sea of Quanta—a realm outside the macrocosm of the Little Garden—he had cast off the constraints of its worldview. The oppressive aura of destruction that constantly trailed him had diminished significantly.
His emotional capacity had gradually grown richer.
Coupled with the gift from the Tree of Imaginary Numbers, he was now in his most relaxed state.
Naturally, he hoped to make more friends.
Luckily, Amber possessed a bright and cheerful disposition. Although she sensed a noble and solemn air about Guixu, upon hearing his words, she cast aside her initial reserve.
"A traveler from another world? I see."
Because Teyvat was home to many legends concerning travelers, Amber did not make a fuss.
"Alright! From now on, I'll call you Big Brother Guixu!"
"And Big Brother Guixu can call me Amber!"
Amber smiled and patted her budding chest, overjoyed to have made a new friend—and the legendary father of Klee, no less.
If Acting Grand Master Jean found out, she would surely be astonished.
"Big Brother Guixu, are you heading back to the City of Mondstadt?"
"My mission is already finished anyway. How about I show you the way!"
Amber offered enthusiastically.
Though she knew little Klee also knew the route, she had volunteered for the job simply because she was eager to show her new friend around.
"Alright then, I'll have to trouble Amber."
Infected by Amber's enthusiasm, Guixu did not refuse.
The corners of his lips curved slightly upward.
This girl truly knew how to radiate boundless positive energy to those around her.
And so, their already lively little group became even more animated.
With Klee, who hadn't stopped chattering out of joy since seeing her father, joined by the naturally vivacious and talkative Amber, the conversation along the path never once flagged.
Guixu chimed in from time to time, feeling not a shred of impatience.
Yet, watching the two chatter—one big, one small—he was reminded of that endlessly talkative bird in Liyue.
Compared to that arrogant bird, though Amber hadn't lived even a fraction of her years, her emotional intelligence was miles ahead.
Far away in Jueyun Karst, Cloud Retainer, who was currently tinkering with a mechanism, suddenly let out a sneeze and involuntarily fluttered her wings with a grumble.
"Did that fellow start speaking ill of me the moment he woke up?"
"Hmph! If I could only beat him, this immortal would surely let him taste the might of true adeptal arts!"
...
Meanwhile, guided by Amber, Guixu arrived at the City of Mondstadt.
The city looked vastly different from the one in his memories, leaving him momentarily dazed.
"Big Brother Guixu, this way."
Greeting passing acquaintances along the path, Amber pulled Guixu along toward the headquarters of the Knights of Favonius.
As they neared the entrance, Amber spotted a familiar figure ahead and called out.
"Kaeya!"
A dark-skinned young man wearing an eyepatch turned around at the sound, a smile breaking across his face as he saw who it was.
"Oh, it's Amber. Finished your mission so early today?"
"And Klee is here too."
Noticing Amber approaching with Guixu and Klee in tow, Kaeya looked curiously at the trio.
His gaze lingered primarily on the unfamiliar Guixu. His very blood seemed to warn him that this man possessed a terrifying, latent sense of oppression.
"And he is?"
"Kaeya, let me tell you! Let me!"
"This is Big Brother Guixu! He's Klee's legendary dad!"
"That's right! This is Klee's most amazing dad!"
Amber enthusiastically introduced her new acquaintance to Kaeya—the legendary figure whispered of in Alice's accounts.
Klee lifted her little chin proudly in agreement.
"Oh? That legendary figure?"
Kaeya was inwardly startled, though his expression remained smooth as he smiled.
"A pleasure to meet you, Mr. Guixu. I am Kaeya, Cavalry Captain of the Knights of Favonius."
Guixu paid no mind to the dark-skinned youth's subtle wariness, returning the greeting with a smile.
"Hello, I am Guixu."
"As for this 'legendary figure' business, I'd honestly love to know how Alice described me."
Kaeya's expression stiffened slightly as he offered an awkward smile.
"Th-these matters are considered confidential within the Knights of Favonius, known only to the higher-ups. Acting Grand Master Jean has forbidden us from spreading rumors."
"If Mr. Guixu wishes to know, you may ask Acting Grand Master Jean directly. I must beg you to spare a humble captain like me."
Guixu glanced at Kaeya, who was awkwardly explaining himself, and then at Amber, who had turned her head away to whistle innocently at the sky. He shook his head with an amused smile.
"Very well. I shall go meet this Acting Grand Master Jean of yours first. Thank you all for looking after Klee these past few years."
"If you ever need assistance in the future, feel free to seek me out."
As a domain governed by that fellow, Mondstadt still held a fair amount of goodwill in his eyes.
Naturally, he wouldn't be stingy with his aid.
"Understood. I'll take my leave then. Amber can show you inside the Knights' headquarters."
Kaeya offered Guixu a formal salute of the Knights of Favonius, then hurriedly turned and left, radiating an inexplicable air of a man making a hasty retreat.
It wasn't until he was well out of Guixu's line of sight that he pressed a hand to his chest and let out a long breath.
"Hoo..."
"As expected of that being... Just standing there made me feel terror deep within my bloodline. It seems the rumors linking the destruction of Khaenri'ah to him might not be mere fabrications."
Kaeya lowered his head in deep thought, lost in his own reflections.
Back at the entrance,
Guixu looked at Amber, who was still trying to feign total innocence, and gave her forehead a playful tap.
"Stop putting on an act, little girl. Let's go."
"Be careful your Grand Master doesn't give you trouble for spilling secrets so casually."
Rubbing her forehead and sticking out her tongue, Amber let out a cheeky laugh.
"Hehe, it just slipped out."
"Besides, even if I can't talk about it with outsiders, there's no harm in telling the person himself!"
"You, girl..."
Smiling, Guixu followed Amber—who bounced along like a cheerful little bird—straight into the office of the Knights of Favonius.
"Knock, knock, knock."
"Come in."
Amber knocked on the door, and upon hearing the response from within, pushed it open and entered.
Jean, who was seated at her desk busy reviewing documents, looked up and offered a welcoming smile.
"Ah, Amber."
"Finished your patrol so quickly today? Was there some special circumstance?"
Jean asked with a hint of puzzlement.
Amber's assignment for the day had been to patrol the entirety of Whispering Woods. At her usual pace, she shouldn't have finished until dusk.
Yet she had returned in barely half a day. Knowing Amber wasn't one to slack off on duty, Jean suspected something might be amiss and felt a twinge of worry.
Noticing Jean's grave expression, Amber quickly waved her hands.
"Ah, no, no!"
"For some reason, Whispering Woods was completely quiet today—not a sound. The patrol went by in a flash. Maybe the beasts and Hilichurls were scared off by that pillar of light earlier. There wasn't any real trouble, so Acting Grand Master Jean, you don't need to worry!"
"Oh? I see. That is entirely possible."
Hearing Amber's explanation, Jean's expression relaxed as she let out a breath.
Even she had felt a lingering sense of unease from that pillar of light earlier; it was only natural for wild beasts and Hilichurls to be frightened.
"As long as you're safe. I'll dispatch a few knights to investigate later anyway, but for now, Amber, you can go take a rest."
Since Amber had successfully completed her mission, Jean naturally had no further demands.
"By the way, who is this?"
With her attention finally drawn away from Mondstadt's safety, Jean noticed the unfamiliar young man standing behind Amber, holding Klee's hand, and asked with a puzzled look.
With a bright smile, little Klee let go of Guixu's hand and scampered over on tiptoes, excitedly throwing her arms around Jean's leg.
"Jean Big Sister! This is Klee's daddy!"
"Klee met her daddy today!"
"Eh? Daddy?"
For a moment, Jean was completely baffled by the excited little girl, leaving her no choice but to cast a questioning glance at Amber.
Meanwhile, Guixu was appraising the young woman before him.
She wore the specialized uniform of the Knights of Favonius, complete with a cape that denoted her strength, and an Anemo Vision hung at her waist.
Her brilliant blonde hair was tied back, lending her an air of absolute efficiency.
The tailored, tailcoat-style uniform accentuated her shapely, curvaceous figure.
She had to admit—though the young woman before him wasn't exceptionally old, she carried a mature and reliable aura that brought a sense of reassurance.
"Greetings, Acting Grand Master Jean."
Guixu stepped forward, gently pulling Klee away from Jean's leg, and offered a friendly greeting.
Jean exhaled softly, and as she looked up at Guixu's appearance, the legends suddenly clicked in her mind. She asked with a cautious tremor in her voice:
"You... could you be... the Guixu God?"
It wasn't that Jean lacked courage; rather, the Guixu God recorded in *Alice's Travels* was simply too terrifying.
He was a being who, with a mere avatar, had once suppressed the entire Dark Sea, a realm teeming with countless supreme deities.
To speak with disrespect, this person was even more powerful than their own Anemo Archon, Barbatos.
And Alice had repeatedly emphasized that her writings contained not the slightest exaggeration—she had witnessed it all with her own eyes.
A being of this caliber—let alone for the current Mondstadt, even if the Knights hadn't departed on their expedition—was not someone Mondstadt could afford to provoke.
Even if he was Klee's father, he was still a God!
Jean dared not take any chances.
Seeing Jean's reaction, Guixu offered a helpless smile.
"Acting Grand Master Jean needn't be so tense. While it is true my name is Guixu, I am not one to slaughter the innocent indiscriminately."
"Besides, you have shown kindness to my daughter, so I have all the more reason not to raise a hand against you."
Guixu glanced down at his little girl with a smile.
Jean managed an embarrassed, silent smile.
While he had made it clear he wasn't a villain, he hadn't denied being a God, either.
