A sharp, ear-splitting sound of space tearing apart, like glass crushed by a massive force, violently shattered the relatively stable barrier at the edge of the Serenitea Pot! A fierce turbulence of energy whipped up a gale, carrying with it a biting, soul-freezing chill that instantly swept across the entire landing zone.
Lumine's figure materialized in the center of the turbulent energy, her face pale—it was obvious that this large-scale evacuation had taken a massive toll on her. Stumbling in closely behind her was a crowd of nearly frozen figures.
The silver-white armor of the Knights of Favonius was caked in a thick, filthy layer of ice, every step producing a crunching crack. The knights were utterly exhausted, relying almost entirely on an iron will to support their bodies and drag the numb refugees forward. The piercing cold hit like countless frozen needles piercing the skin. The horrifying state of the frostbite was shocking: exposed skin was a terrifying bluish-purple, swollen and glossy; lips were black and chapped; eyelashes and eyebrows frosted with tiny white crystals. On rudimentary stretchers lay several wounded individuals who had nearly lost consciousness, their vital signs as weak as a candle in the wind.
