The air in the interrogation room was as heavy and frozen as lead. Ledu slumped in the cold metal chair like a puddle of melted wax. Sweat had soaked through his expensive Fontaine silk shirt, its collar hanging open in disarray and exposing the pale skin beneath. Yelan stood opposite him, her posture as straight as a spear, her hands resting casually on the back of the chair, her fingertips just inches from Ledu’s neck. She exerted no physical pressure, but her gaze was calm and unruffled, yet deeper than the Abyss and more piercing than frost, silently crushing Ledu's last shred of wishful thinking. "NB-10..." Yelan's voice was not loud, but it struck clearly against Ledu's eardrums like the lingering echo of a funeral bell. Her fingertips tapped lightly on the material evidence report on the desktop, which clearly showed the etched serial number found at the bottom of the alchemy reaction vessel. "The internal asset numbering format of Northland Bank. Mr. Ledu, do you still insist that this is a collection of your 'personal interest'?"
