The sun rises in the east, casting the first rays of dawn. In the corridor, the overhead lighting was dim and feeble, unable to rival the breaking dawn, yet it provided a steadfast light for them throughout the entire night within this narrow passageway. Sunlight pierced through the outer courtyard wall, illuminating everyone's faces. They were exhausted; the youngest among them was only thirteen or fourteen years old, desperately fighting to keep her drooping eyelids open. Whenever her head nodded, she would startle violently awake, fiercely pinching her own arm.
