Lin Qiye, Shen Qingzhu, and the Little Girl set out on the road toward World's End. This journey was fraught with unknown perils and hardships, as if the entire world were testing their resolve.
They crossed a desolate expanse of saline-alkali land, where the white salt crust covered the ground like snow, stinging their eyes under the glare of the sunlight. With every step, their feet sank deep into the loose soil, requiring a tremendous amount of effort to pull back out. Moreover, this wasteland harbored a special breed of sandworms that would suddenly burst forth from the ground when least expected, launching attacks with their sharp mouthparts.
Lin Qiye brandished his sword, cutting down the ceaselessly emerging sandworms. Sweat beaded across his forehead. "Everyone be careful, there are far too many of these sandworms!" he shouted.
Shen Qingzhu used his shield to protect the Little Girl while his spear continuously thrust out to swat away the approaching sandworms. "We need to get out of here as fast as possible!" he replied.
Having finally made their way out of the wasteland, they entered a gale-swept canyon. The wind in the canyon was as sharp as blades, howling past and cutting at their skin. They were forced to deploy their Spiritual Energy Shielding to fend off the fierce winds, but maintaining the shields for long periods drained their spiritual energy severely.
"Hang in there, it should get better once we pass through this canyon!" Lin Qiye yelled at the top of his lungs, his voice somewhat muffled by the howling gale.
After struggling forward through the canyon for several days, they finally emerged from the wind-blasted territory. However, a fog-shrouded swamp lay before them. The swamp emitted a pungent odor, and massive shadowy figures could be dimly seen moving about within the mist.
"This swamp looks dangerous; we must proceed with caution," Shen Qingzhu warned.
They stepped cautiously into the swamp, using their weapons to probe the ground ahead with every step. Suddenly, the Little Girl's foot slipped, and her entire body began to sink deeper into the mire. "Uncle!" she cried out in terror.
Quick-witted and fast-acting, Lin Qiye threw out a vine that wrapped around the Little Girl's arm. With a mighty heave, he pulled her back to safety. "It's all right, don't be afraid," Lin Qiye comforted her.
Right at that moment, a massive swamp monster lunged out of the mist. Resembling a colossal crocodile, it opened its blood-red maw and lunged to bite them. Lin Qiye and Shen Qingzhu struck simultaneously; Lin Qiye unleashed "Xingchen Cleaves the Void," while Shen Qingzhu thrust his spear toward the monster's eyes. Struck by the attack, the monster let out an angry roar and swept its tail, kicking up a shower of muddy water.
Splattered with mud, Lin Qiye and the others found their vision impaired. Seizing the opportunity, the swamp monster launched another lightning-fast attack, clamping its jaws onto Shen Qingzhu's shield. Shen Qingzhu pulled with all his might, only to find the creature's strength immense.
"Qingzhu, I'll help you!" Lin Qiye shouted. Activating his movement technique, he leaped onto the monster's back and drove his sword fiercely into its spine. Smarting from the pain, the monster released its grip and began thrashing wildly, trying to shake Lin Qiye off.
Taking advantage of the opening, Shen Qingzhu and the Little Girl attacked the monster's underbelly. Under their combined onslaught, the monster gradually weakened. Seizing the moment, Lin Qiye unleashed a full-strength strike and slew the beast.
Having weathered the trial of the swamp, they continued onward. Along the way, they encountered various other dangers, including exotic flowers that released hallucinogenic pollen and mysterious Ancient Trees capable of discharging lightning. Yet, relying on their indomitable willpower and mutual tacit understanding, they overcame every single obstacle.
As they pressed on, they noticed that the surrounding environment was growing increasingly bizarre. Multicolored auroras appeared in the sky, and the stones on the ground grew crystal clear, as if they were drawing near the edge of the world.
*We must be getting close to that unfathomable, timeless World's End.* Lin Qiye stared intently at the rapidly shifting, dreamlike scenery around them, a trace of hard-to-detect solemnity flashing in his eyes. He furrowed his brows slightly, secretly pondering the unknown perils and challenges that might await them at their destination.
Like a band of fearless warriors, they unhesitatingly picked up their pace, every stride exceptionally firm as if striving to leave deep impressions in the earth beneath their feet. With resolute gazes, they forged ahead toward the direction where the aurora was thickest and as brilliant as celestial light; that aurora acted like a mysterious beacon guiding their way, casting a unique radiance across the dark night.
As they continued pressing forward, the aura of darkness rushed at them like a gnarled, clawing monster, growing increasingly intense. It seemed to roar in silence, issuing a stern warning that untold perils lay ambushed ahead—dangers lingering in the air like thick fog, obscuring whatever terrifying sights might await them on the road ahead. Yet, not a single trace of retreat flickered within them; their hearts were forged of steel, and the steadfast conviction to complete their mission burned like a blazing fire in their chests, driving them boldly forward without a shred of fear toward the unknown World's End. No matter how rugged the path, no matter how imminent the danger, they would never turn back.
