"Screw it, over fifty thousand it is!"
Lin Xiumei finally clicked on the product link and quickly completed the payment.
At this point, she was treating a dead horse like a live one. Fifty-odd thousand wasn't a small amount for her, but if it could genuinely cure her daughter's lovestruck brain, she would gladly empty her entire retirement savings.
Seeing that the user "Like-Minded Plum Blossom" had placed an order, Su Nanqing's brows relaxed slightly.
She finally made her first sale! It wasn't easy!
With a first time, there would be a second. She still had two days left; as long as she live-streamed at full speed, completing the task of ten orders shouldn't be an issue.
Thinking of this, Su Nanqing instantly relaxed, introducing the products with growing ease and confidence.
Thanks to the platform's precise traffic targeting, compared to yesterday, there were noticeably fewer skeptical voices in the live-stream room today, though some people still refused to believe it and kept mocking and attacking in the chat.
[Holy crap, did someone actually place an order?]
[Is the host paying someone to fake orders or what?]
[I gotta see which absolute sucker bought a fifty-grand fake pill!]
[Hey, big spender, didn't you just slip up and order by mistake? Hurry up and get a refund before it ships!]
Seeing these live comments, Lin Xiumei couldn't help but hesitate.
Love-Curing Brain-Cleansing Pill—the name sounded utterly absurd, completely lacking any scientific basis.
Was she really becoming the sucker everyone was talking about?
Fifty thousand could buy her groceries for a whole year!
Lin Xiumei hurriedly opened her orders to apply for a full refund, only to find that the system prompt indicated failure because the item had already shipped and was in transit.
Now Lin Xiumei was even more convinced she'd been scammed. She had literally just bought the item a second ago—how could it possibly have shipped so fast?
The merchant must have set it up on purpose to trick her, making her fall for it and suffer losses without even being able to get a refund or claim compensation.
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. Lin Xiumei felt like she must have lost her mind. She had worried herself sick over her daughter's situation and even lost her money. If her husband asked about it, she wouldn't even know how to explain.
After struggling with herself for half an hour, Lin Xiumei decided to call the consumer protection hotline. No matter what, the merchant had to refund that fifty-odd thousand in full!
"Mom, what did you buy again? Why is there a delivery box outside the door?"
Mo Xiaowei started chattering the moment she opened the door, completely disrupting Lin Xiumei's complaint plans.
Frowning, Lin Xiumei took the delivery box, feeling puzzled inside.
"Strange, I haven't bought anything these past few days. Whose package could this be?"
She checked the information on the label: her own name and mobile phone number, no mistake.
Seeing this, Mo Xiaowei couldn't help but complain, "Mom, I think you're really losing it. You can't even remember whether you bought something or not!"
"No wonder you're so bent on tearing me and Zijie apart—it's because you're always this confused and have no brains at all!"
Lin Xiumei unwrapped the delivery box and discovered to her shock that it was actually the Love-Curing Brain-Cleansing Pill she had bought during the live stream!
The pill was placed inside an exquisite black wooden box. It was tiny and brownish-tan, looking somewhat like a chocolate ball.
Wait a minute. She had clearly placed the order only half an hour ago—how could it have been delivered to her doorstep so fast?
Even SF Express wasn't that miraculous!
Lin Xiumei thought of the live-stream room's name—Nothing Is Impossible.
Could everything actually be real? Could this pill genuinely cure her daughter's lovestruck brain?
"Mom, I'm talking to you. Why aren't you answering? Zijie and I are truly in love, a match made in heaven. No one can ever tear us apart!"
"Mom, don't think I'll back down just because you're playing dumb. I've been a well-behaved daughter for twenty-two years, but this time, you all have to listen to me no matter what!"
Mo Xiaowei remained unrelenting, completely acting like an ignorant, rebellious teenager who wouldn't listen to reason!
An idea formed in Lin Xiumei's mind, and she said calmly, "Xiaowei, if you really want to be with that Zhuang Zijie, then you have to agree to one condition."
"What condition?"
Mo Xiaowei instantly grew alert. "You don't want Zijie to shell out hundreds of thousands in bride price just to marry me, do you?"
"You're overthinking it." Lin Xiumei feigned indifference as she put away the pill. "Just keep me company for lunch today."
"It's that simple?"
Mo Xiaowei found it hard to believe. Just the night before, Lin Xiumei had been so high-strung, desperately pleading with her not to be with Zhuang Zijie.
How had she suddenly become so calm and casual? Could there be some trick hidden behind this?
At the dinner table, Lin Xiumei smiled faintly. "Xiaowei, you've graduated from college and turned twenty-two. Mom shouldn't treat you like a kid anymore."
"You have your own path to walk. As parents, we can't make every decision for you. You're the master of your own life."
Hearing this made Mo Xiaowei's heart ache slightly, but she still maintained a heavy sense of vigilance.
What on earth is wrong with my mom today? Did her head get caught in a door, or did she take the wrong medicine?
"Xiaowei, I won't say anything else. Eat up. I made all of this specially for you. And this beef pancake—hurry up and taste it while it's hot. It won't taste good once it cools down."
As she spoke, Lin Xiumei used serving chopsticks to place a steaming, golden-brown and crispy beef pancake into Mo Xiaowei's bowl.
Mo Xiaowei was deeply moved. Because of Zhuang Zijie, she had been giving her parents the cold shoulder for a while now, yet Lin Xiumei was still willing to cook for her personally, and even made all her favorite foods...
This made her feel a bit regretful for having said so many hurtful things to them.
She didn't have the heart to hurt her parents either, but she simply couldn't control herself. Who told her parents to always keep her and Zhuang Zijie apart?
Just like that, Lin Xiumei watched with her own eyes as Mo Xiaowei ate the beef pancake. She had mixed the crushed pill inside it; the instructions stated that no matter what form the pill was consumed in, its effectiveness wouldn't diminish.
Hopefully this Love-Curing Brain-Cleansing Pill would actually work...
"Cough, cough..." Mo Xiaowei suddenly started coughing, as if she had choked on something.
Lin Xiumei hurriedly handed her a glass of warm water, her tone full of concern. "Xiaowei, eat slowly, don't rush. Take a sip of water to catch your breath."
Mo Xiaowei drank the water, her face turning completely red, wearing a deeply uncomfortable and complex expression.
Now Lin Xiumei panicked. Could she have bought a fake medicine?
What if Mo Xiaowei's health was ruined by this?
She reached out to touch Mo Xiaowei's forehead; it was slightly warm.
"Xiaowei, don't scare Mom. Do you feel any discomfort right now? Should Mom take you to the hospital?"
After catching her breath for a moment, Mo Xiaowei finally swallowed the rest of the beef pancake.
"Mom, I'm fine... I guess I was just eating too fast and choked. I feel much better now."
As soon as she finished speaking, for some reason, Mo Xiaowei's eyes welled up, and a string of crystal-clear tears rolled down uncontrollably.
Immediately afterward, she felt a swell in her mind as a surge of heat washed over her. Her heart felt as though it were being tightly gripped, leaving her barely able to breathe.
Seeing Mo Xiaowei acting so strangely, Lin Xiumei was filled with bitter regret.
"Xiaowei, what's wrong with you? Don't scare Mom, let's rush to the hospital right now!"
"We'll have the doctor pump your stomach!"
And get rid of whatever medicine she had just eaten!
"Mom, I'm really okay now..."
After resting for a moment, Mo Xiaowei finally felt less miserable. "I just think it's so weird. I feel like I was such a fool lately..."
"An absolute, total idiot!"
