Certain private matters indeed called for a private space, especially now that the Room of Requirement on the eighth floor of the Castle had been thoroughly exposed; he needed an office like this all the more. As for the location and layout, neither was particularly good, but Albert didn't mind in the slightest. Naturally, these were the offices left over after the other professors had made their picks, so encountering such a situation was entirely to be expected. Besides, during his upcoming tenure as the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, the frequency with which he would actually use this office was likely to be quite low. After exchanging pleasantries with Professor McGonagall, Albert took his leave and departed Hogwarts Castle. It wasn't that he was too dense to notice Professor McGonagall's goodwill and invitation; it was simply that his heart truly wasn't in it, leaving him to quietly offer a silent apology.
