Harry had just walked into the Auror office, barely having time to catch his breath, when a colleague called him away to a meeting in Dawlish's office. The reason, naturally, was this morning's meeting with the goblins. In fact, even without Dawlish spelling it out, everyone knew what was going on. The Ministry of Magic had never trusted the goblins to begin with. Sending Royden Polk, a representative from the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, to Chipping Clifden—a small English town—to hold negotiations with the goblins was mostly a gesture to show the British wizarding world that the Ministry was sincere about maintaining peace. It was meant to let everyone know that the Ministry loved peace and longed to quell the chaotic disputes between goblins and wizards.
