The news that someone with malicious intent had sent Albert a Christmas gift full of ill will spread completely through the Castle, carried by the lips of Gryffindor House students.
This incident proved once again that secrets simply do not exist in Gryffindor House.
Quite a few Slytherin House male students gloated over Albert's misfortune. A few who were not on good terms with him even went so far as to threaten to mail him packages cursed with jinxes, while Malfoy made numerous sarcastic remarks, suspecting that the previous Christmas gift had been sent to him anonymously by Albert.
