He also claimed that the Ministry had captured Peter Pettigrew—the real culprit who had betrayed the Potter family all those years ago—and had already revoked the Order of Merlin, First Class, previously awarded to him.
Not long after, word spread that Snape had let slip to the Slytherin students that Professor Lupin was a werewolf.
