The writing on the stone tablet was blurry and indistinct, as if something was covering its surface.
Bai Sinan used her spiritual energy to wipe away whatever was shrouding the tablet.
Wisp after wisp of spiritual energy seeped into the stone, and glowing red spots of light began to appear around it.
The characters on the tablet finally revealed themselves.
"Obtain the sacred fire of my Yan Clan, and avenge the wrongs of my Yan Clan."
The red specks of light converged into a streak of blazing exotic fire that plunged straight into Bai Sinan's glabella.
Bai Sinan: "What is this, a forced sale?"
No matter how speechless Bai Sinan felt, this exotic fire already belonged to her.
Yet this particular wisp of fire was remarkably strange. According to the inscription on the tablet, it was the sacred fire of the Yan Clan, so why did she feel like this was a fire as utterly ordinary as any other? It was no different from the fire she made by rubbing sticks together...
Bai Sinan rubbed her chin. "The Yan Clan... Never heard of them. Where on earth am I supposed to go and avenge them?"
Sigh, they really knew how to hand her extra chores.
Suddenly, Bai Sinan detected a subtle aura. Her intuition told her there was something else nearby.
"Yaya, do you sense the presence of any other treasures?"
Yaya asked, confused, "Huh? No, not at all."
Nothing?
Yet she kept feeling as though something was drawing her in, and her subconscious told her that she absolutely had to get her hands on this object.
Bai Sinan closed her eyes and projected her spiritual awareness outward in all directions. In one particular direction, her awareness felt as though it were being tugged by something.
Opening her eyes, Bai Sinan walked toward that direction.
Only a wall stood before her, but Bai Sinan kept walking forward.
Sure enough, her guess was correct; this wall was an illusion.
Passing through the wall, a magnificent grand hall came into view.
Yaya, perched on her shoulder, bounced with excitement. "Xiaonan, I can feel it! There's something great in here! And it's a peerless treasure!"
Oh ho, a peerless treasure? The female lead script was playing right into her hands.
With a bandit-like expression, Bai Sinan declared, "Let's go, come with me to find the treasure!"
The grand hall that looked so magnificent on the outside actually contained nothing at all, save for a white jade bracelet placed right in the center.
What? Had they got a bone to pick with the color white or something?
Grumbling, Bai Sinan picked up the bracelet. "How much could this piece of junk even be worth? The quality is mediocre at best, and I hate wearing anything around my wrist."
The next moment, the white jade bracelet vibrated in her hand as if it possessed a mind of its own.
The forced sale happened all over again.
A beam of light shot from the white jade bracelet straight into Bai Sinan's glabella, and the bracelet automatically fastened itself around her wrist.
Bai Sinan: "What the hell..."
"Wuu wuu wuu... Master..."
A voice that sounded as though it were crying its lungs out rang in Bai Sinan's sea of consciousness.
Bai Sinan looked down at the bracelet. "A spirit artifact spirit? Could you be some sort of spatial spirit tool? And what on earth are you crying for?"
The artifact spirit cried even harder. "Wuu wuu wuu, Master, not only do you not remember Linger, but you despise her so much! Linger is so heartbroken, wuu wuu wuu wuu wuu..."
Bai Sinan felt somewhat awkward. "Uh... It's a misunderstanding, it's all a misunderstanding. But I really don't know you."
She awkwardly scratched her head. Who could have known that this piece of junk was a spatial spirit tool complete with an artifact spirit? Logically speaking, shouldn't spatial spirit tools be grand and high-end? At the very least... the bracelet shouldn't be this "plain."
"Wuu wuu wuu..."
"Hold on..." Before she could finish, she suddenly felt the world spin. In the blink of an eye, the scene shifted, and she found herself in a wasteland...
That's right, an absolute wasteland.
The ground was covered in cracks, just like a severe drought.
Not far from Bai Sinan stood a thatched cottage that looked precisely like an outhouse. Beside the hut was a withered tree and a large, deep dirt pit containing only a thin layer of water.
Unbelievable.
Bai Sinan could only be speechless. This spatial spirit tool looked like it belonged exclusively to a public restroom when nature called.
"Wuu wuu wuu..."
The crying pierced straight through Bai Sinan's skull as a plump, chubby baby wrapped its arms around her neck and wailed away.
Bai Sinan: I am truly blessed...
Linger was crying uncontrollably, yet she choked out between sobs, "Wuu wuu wuu, Master, hiccup~ This is Wushang Domain, Master's former spatial spirit tool, and I am the spirit of Wushang Domain, Linger. I don't remember anything else, wuu wuu wuu... hiccup~"
Bai Sinan raised her hands to hold Linger, patting her back to help her catch her breath. "I know, Linger. Stop crying for a moment. Do you remember what's inside Wushang Domain?"
Linger replied, "Mm, I remember."
Linger detached herself from Bai Sinan, floated into the air, and pointed at the thatched cottage. "This house is where Master used to live."
What?
I lived in an outhouse?
Linger pointed at the dirt pit next to it. "This is the Spirit Spring Lake, and the one beside it is the Tree of Life."
Bai Sinan: Why could she understand every single word, yet when they were put together, they made no sense at all...
Linger looked somewhat troubled. "There used to be many good things in Wushang Domain, but now Wushang Domain is damaged, and I don't know what to do..."
Fine, another mess to clean up.
Bai Sinan sighed. "I understand. How do I get out now?"
"Master can just use her spiritual awareness to leave."
Bai Sinan tried mobilizing her spiritual awareness and exited with ease.
"Xiaonan, where did you just go? You scared the life out of me." Yaya had been completely bewildered just now when a living person suddenly vanished into thin air.
Bai Sinan answered, "I went to a place. Want to go take a look?"
Yaya nodded. "Yes."
Bai Sinan asked through her divine sense, "Linger, can Yaya come in?"
Linger replied via divine sense, "Yes, as long as Master uses spiritual awareness to send it inside."
With a flick of her mind, Bai Sinan sent Yaya into Wushang Domain, conveniently moving everything from her storage ring except for the spirit beast meat inside as well.
Her storage ring wasn't large and had been almost packed to the brim, but now she finally had a place to store her belongings.
Bai Sinan suddenly remembered something. "By the way, Linger, can you change your form? I really... don't like wearing bracelets."
Linger asked, "Yes, what form does Master want?"
Bai Sinan thought for a moment. "A tattoo mark, I suppose. Just make sure the pattern isn't too large."
Let's avoid getting a full sleeve.
"Okay, Master!"
The white jade bracelet vanished, replaced by a fiery-red mark on the back of her right hand.
It was shaped like a phoenix feather with three leaves, looking rather bizarre, yet inexplicably quite pretty.
Ah, at last, it wasn't white.
"Master! Hurry and come into Wushang Domain!" Linger's excited voice rang in her sea of consciousness.
With a thought, Bai Sinan entered Wushang Domain.
In less than ten minutes, Wushang Domain had undergone a drastic transformation.
The cracks on the ground had vanished, and fuzzy little blades of grass had even sprouted.
Although the thatched cottage was still a thatched cottage, it no longer looked as dilapidated as before.
The Tree of Life beside it remained largely unchanged, but the water in the Spirit Spring Lake had visibly increased.
Yaya was standing in front of its personal belongings, dazed.
"Yaya, what are you standing there spacing out for?"
As Bai Sinan walked over, she saw that the once-glowing stones among Yaya's treasures had turned into powder.
"Spirit stones?" Bai Sinan sensed the faint, lingering spiritual energy within the powder.
Spirit stones were the universal currency of the Qihuang Continent. She had used spirit stones when shopping with Sister Lingyun previously, so she could confirm that this powder was indeed from spirit stones.
Bai Sinan muttered, "It seems I need to start making money."
Who would have thought that spirit stones could be used to repair Wushang Domain?
The thatched cottage no longer looked decrepit, and Bai Sinan felt a twinge of curiosity about its interior.
Stepping inside, she was unsurprised to find a straw bed, though it was relatively clean.
Beside it stood a bookshelf holding a few scattered books.
The Pill Cauldron Aojiao had lent her had somehow appeared right in the middle of the room, as if it belonged there all along.
Bai Sinan raised an eyebrow. Could this Pill Cauldron have been mine to begin with?
Well, she knew she was being quite shameless with that thought.
