At that moment, an Assistant Director of the Directorate of Astrology was performing divination before the main hall. On one hand, he was praying for the health and longevity of the Imperial Princess during her birthday banquet; on the other hand, he was divining and praying for the enduring prosperity of the nation. Who could have anticipated that just moments ago the sky was clear and bright, but in the blink of an eye, dark clouds blotted out the sun, thunder roared, and a fierce gale swept past, threatening a torrential downpour. The Assistant Director tossed two divination blocks. The first reading revealed that the convex sides of the two clam-shell-shaped wooden pieces both faced upward. A wave of panic gripped the Assistant Director, but too terrified to cry out, he had no choice but to cast them again.
