Yu Binglan smiled at Lin Chuan.
Lin Chuan walked over and said somewhat sheepishly, "Will I be troubling you?"
"Not at all. Get in the car."
Lin Chuan opened the door and sat in the front passenger seat. Immediately, a faint, refreshing, and pleasant fragrance washed over him.
It wasn't that he didn't want to sit in the back, but the rear seats were covered with Yu Binglan's discarded clothes, including intimate items like a one-piece bodysuit scattered about.
It was purple with lace trim and featured a little bow on top.
Just a glance made his face burn with embarrassment, so he had no choice but to bite the bullet and sit next to Yu Binglan.
Watching Lin Chuan take the passenger seat, Yu Binglan's lovely eyes flashed with a hint of mischief before she started the car.
Inside the car, Lin Chuan felt like he was sitting on pins and needles, even though he tried his utmost to control his gaze.
Yet he still found himself involuntarily glancing at Yu Binglan, because she was currently wearing a tank top without a bra. From Lin Chuan's angle, he could catch a glimpse of the snowy mountain peaks.
Their shape and size were exceptionally perfect, and she was truly going commando.
Moreover, they kept bouncing whenever they went over a speed bump, a sight that made a person desperately want to reach out and test how those swaying peaks felt.
Lin Chuan hurriedly gave a dry cough and began examining the interior of Yu Binglan's car to distract himself.
Slowing down a bit, Yu Binglan glanced at the flustered Lin Chuan and said with a smile, "There are drinks in the mini-fridge in the back. Help yourself to whatever you'd like."
Lin Chuan looked back and sure enough, right behind his seat, he spotted a square cabinet.
To be honest, his throat felt rather dry, especially after catching a few glimpses of those snowy peaks. After hesitating for a moment, Lin Chuan nodded and reached out to open the fridge door.
Inevitably, his eyes brushed past some of Yu Binglan's intimate garments in the process. He hurriedly yanked the fridge door open, grabbed a random bottle of water from inside, and turned back around.
Then he popped the cap and chugged down a large bottle in one go.
Just then, Yu Binglan stopped the car at a red light. She turned her head and, without a word, stared straight at Lin Chuan.
Thinking she wanted to say something, Lin Chuan waited for a long time, but she just kept staring at him in silence. Feeling rather awkward, he asked, "Miss Binglan, why are you looking at me like that?"
Yu Binglan burst into a laugh.
"What are you laughing at?"
Covering her mouth with a hand, Yu Binglan said, "You're born so good-looking, aren't people allowed to look? Do I have to pay a fee just to gaze at you?"
Lin Chuan felt rather awkward. Although he secretly agreed with Yu Binglan's words, the current atmosphere and setting felt entirely inappropriate.
"How old are you?"
"Nineteen."
"Nineteen? You really are a fresh little morsel of meat. But you're way better-looking than those traffic idols on TV."
Lin Chuan scratched his head; he really couldn't handle Yu Binglan's somewhat searing gaze.
After chatting for a bit, the red light finally turned green.
The Porsche started moving again.
Lin Chuan let out a heavy sigh of relief, knowing that this way Yu Binglan wouldn't be able to keep staring at him.
"I'd like to make friends with you. Is that okay?"
Driving with one hand, Yu Binglan pulled a name card from the dashboard slot and handed it to Lin Chuan.
Lin Chuan took the name card with both hands and gave it a curious look; Yu Binglan's phone number was printed on it.
"I'd love to, but I don't have a phone."
Hearing this, Yu Binglan froze. At first, she thought Lin Chuan just didn't want to leave his number, but seeing his clear, innocent eyes, she believed him.
Her lovely eyes shifted, and with a sweep of the steering wheel, she pulled up right in front of a mobile phone store.
"Wait here for me, I'll be right back."
Yu Binglan grabbed a jacket from the back seat, put it on, and stepped out of the car.
Curiously, Lin Chuan watched Yu Binglan disappear into the neighboring shop. In less than five minutes, she was back.
When she returned, she was holding a mobile phone box in her hands.
Handing the phone box to Lin Chuan, she smiled and said, "This is a reward for you from our police station. There's a SIM card inside. Now you can save my phone number, right?"
"A reward? Why am I getting a reward?"
Clutching the phone box, Lin Chuan looked bewildered.
"Because you helped us catch those robbers! You made a contribution, so our police station gives out rewards for that."
"Oh, so that's how it is."
Lin Chuan nodded happily.
He then unwrapped the packaging box, and under Yu Binglan's guidance, Lin Chuan quickly learned the basic operations of the phone.
The two of them exchanged numbers, and Yu Binglan even helped Lin Chuan set up a WeChat account and added him as a contact before they hit the road again.
Throughout the entire journey, Lin Chuan looked quite excited, holding the phone and refusing to put it down. Since this was his first time coming into contact with high-tech gadgets, he was full of curiosity.
Chatting back and forth, they soon arrived at Financial Avenue.
At the far end of Financial Avenue stood the tallest building. The sunlight shone against the dark glass of the skyscraper without casting a single reflection, making the entire structure look seamless—like a crouching monster staring coldly down Financial Avenue.
Yu Binglan parked the car by the roadside. Lin Chuan stepped out and thanked her, "Thank you, Miss Binglan."
"You're welcome. Then... let's keep in touch another day. Goodbye." Yu Binglan looked at Lin Chuan, a trace of disappointment flickering in her lovely eyes.
Lin Chuan nodded, waved, and turned to walk toward the building at the end of the avenue.
"Lin Chuan! Remember to call me!"
Yu Binglan's voice suddenly rang out, clear and sweet.
Lin Chuan looked back with a smile and nodded.
Yet his mind was entirely filled with memories of Yu Binglan's snowy white scenery.
A moment later, a strange wave of melancholy washed over Lin Chuan. He had only been down the mountain for a few days, yet his Dao heart was already starting to waver.
"Sigh, the mortal world trials my master talked about are not such a simple matter after all."
Walking along, Lin Chuan finally arrived in front of Zhongshang Entertainment Building. Gazing at the magnificent skyscraper and the spacious plaza in front of it, Lin Chuan couldn't help uttering a few sighs of admiration.
With that, he stepped into the building.
"Hello, sir. Is there something I can help you with?"
Since he lacked an employee badge and was dressed rather strangely, Lin Chuan was stopped the moment he entered the lobby by two young, attractive receptionists wearing skirt suits, black stockings, and high heels.
Catching sight of Lin Chuan's face, the two receptionists felt their eyes turn green. They had seen good-looking men before, but never one this striking.
Politely, Lin Chuan asked, "Hello there. Are you staff members of this company?"
"We are."
The two receptionists nodded, and the bolder one stared straight at Lin Chuan and asked, "Handsome, are you here to apply for a job?"
Lin Chuan shook his head and lowered his voice mysteriously, "I want to ask if you know where Su Qingxue went today and who she met?"
"Su Qingxue? Why does that name sound so familiar?" the other receptionist said in a daze, not quite reacting yet.
"Su Qingxue is our president!" the first receptionist exclaimed.
And no wonder—at a mega-corporation like Zhongshang Entertainment, the president was like an untouchable deity residing in the heavens, so low-level receptionists naturally had virtually no chance of ever seeing her.
"Why are you asking about that?"
The two receptionists furrowed their brows, thinking to themselves that if Lin Chuan's target was the president, wouldn't they have zero chance left?
"Uh... I was just asking. Do you guys know?"
Normally, if anyone else came in asking such questions, the two receptionists wouldn't even bother giving them the time of day.
However, faced with Lin Chuan's rule-breaking good looks, the two receptionists hesitated before speaking up. "Handsome, if you're plotting anything against our president, you can forget about it."
"Young Master Cheng has already spread the word that our president will be the future Mrs. Cheng, so I advise you to dispel that notion early on. Why don't you look at me instead? Though I can't compare to our president, I'm not bad either."
Hearing this, the other receptionist immediately protested.
"Lily, you're sneaking ahead! That's cheating!"
Just as the two receptionists began squabbling and tussling over this, Lin Chuan caught sight of a sneaky figure out of the corner of his eye.
