"What are you doing?!"
The medical staff, having been blocked, immediately frowned and rebuked with great displeasure.
The surrounding onlookers also turned to look at Lin Chuan, whispering amongst themselves.
"This elderly woman is having a severe attack and cannot be moved casually, otherwise she will die on the spot and there won't even be time to get her to the hospital," Lin Chuan said solemnly.
Seeing how deadpan Lin Chuan was, coupled with a face a few notches more handsome than even Eddie Peng, the medical personnel looked at him with half-belief and asked, "Are you a doctor?"
Lin Chuan shook his head very simply.
"No."
"If you're not a doctor, what kind of trouble are you stirring up here? Hurry up and step aside. Can you bear the responsibility if we miss the optimal window for treatment?!"
The medical staff said angrily, and made to push Lin Chuan away.
Yet Lin Chuan stood completely unmoving, a hint of gravity on his face.
"What I'm saying is true. This old lady's condition is a rather rare form of epilepsy. You cannot move her when it flares up, or it will worsen her condition."
"Judging by her appearance, she must have had a few episodes already. If it gets any worse, even the immortals won't be able to save her."
The woman looked Lin Chuan up and down, and said tearfully, "Little master, can you really save my mom?"
Lin Chuan nodded. The nine masters on Qingliang Mountain were all individuals possessed of heaven-defying skills, among whom the Fourth Master's medical arts were nothing short of miraculous. He could tell the general diagnosis of common intractable diseases with just a single glance.
People often said that looking, listening, and asking were the three major realms of traditional Chinese medicine, but little did they know that "looking" was the hardest realm to attain.
Being able to discern a person's internal condition simply through their complexion, breathing, demeanor, and gaze was no longer medical skill—it was immortal art.
The reason Lin Chuan, who grew up on Qingliang Mountain, was hailed as a peerless genius once in a millennium was because he had surpassed his masters in every single aspect.
Even the Fourth Master could not stop praising his medical skills, unable to find a single flaw in them.
Seeing Lin Chuan nod, the woman somehow felt her heart settle and chose to believe him. Perhaps this was the benefit of being good-looking.
So handsome that people had no choice but to believe him.
"But I took my mom to the most famous hospital for a checkup before. Wouldn't epilepsy have shown up if she had it?"
Lin Chuan patiently explained, "This is epilepsy, except it's different from ordinary epilepsy. This kind of epilepsy has triggers; when it's dormant in the body during normal times, it cannot be detected."
The only reason he knew about this condition was because back when he was on Qingliang Mountain, a special patient had come to seek treatment from the Fourth Master. At that time, the man was wearing a military uniform with several stars on his shoulders, and the moment Lin Chuan glanced at him slightly, that man collapsed to the ground just like this old lady.
Back then, Lin Chuan even thought that fellow was allergic to good looks; otherwise, why would he have fainted the instant Lin Chuan looked at him?
Hearing Lin Chuan say such things, the nearby medical staff sneered, "Even the hospital's precision instruments couldn't detect it, but you can spot it at a single glance. You really are something else."
With that, he turned to the woman and said, "Do you believe him or the hospital? If you don't want the ambulance, we're leaving. Ambulances are in very short supply right now."
At this moment, bystanders watching the crowd stepped forward one after another to speak up with a sense of justice: "Exactly! What does a young, wet-behind-the-ears kid know about medicine? Sister, you shouldn't pay this guy any mind."
"I bet he's just here to swindle and bluff, trying to show off. Wearing a Taoist robe and tying his hair up in a bun really makes him think he's some exalted master, huh?"
"But he really is so handsome, and he has this uninhibited, carefree aura about him."
The onlookers looked toward the person who spoke last. Sure enough, it was a girl, and quite an attractive one at that—none other than the JK-skirt-wearing girl who had stopped Lin Chuan earlier to ask for directions.
Listening to the discussions around her, the woman immediately fell into a struggle. While she hesitated, Lin Chuan had already walked up to the old lady lying on the ground.
He took a deep breath, circulating the Wuji Formula within his body.
The noisy sounds around him were instantly shut out. At this moment, Lin Chuan's mind was as clear as a mirror, a trace of purple light emerging from his eyes, though no one noticed.
The true qi in his body converged into his eyes, and the old lady's body seemed to be peeled back layer by layer. Soon, he found the reason for the old lady's sudden seizure.
Lin Chuan squatted down, extending his finger to press between the old lady's eyebrows. The true qi penetrated her skin straight into her body, then traveled along various acupuncture points all the way to her heart, which had already shown signs of stopping.
After carefully wrapping the old woman's heart with true qi, he used his palms to tap and massage the crown of her head, her back, and some acupuncture points on her hands, going from light to heavy.
"What are you doing?! Hurry up and..."
A paramedic saw Lin Chuan's actions and immediately tried to stop him, but the next moment, the old woman who had been lying on the ground motionless suddenly jerked, looking as though a corpse had just sprung back to life. Everyone around was startled.
And the old woman's previously dark, ashen complexion now regained a trace of color.
At this point, the woman knew that Lin Chuan possessed genuine skills and hurriedly dropped to her knees, pleading, "Please save my mom, little master."
Lin Chuan nodded. First, he helped the woman up, and then said to the dumbfounded medical staff, "Did you bring silver needles? If not, syringe needles will do."
By now, those medical personnel also saw that Lin Chuan possessed some real skill, and quickly said, "We have them. I'll get them for you."
Taking a box of silver needles from the hands of the medical staff, he drew out three of them and held them between his fingers, true qi quietly adhering to the metal.
"Quze, Tianquan, Lingchi!"
The three silver needles pierced into the corresponding acupuncture points in precise order.
The speed of his strikes was so fast that people couldn't see clearly at all; only a blur flashed by, and the silver needles were already embedded in the three acupuncture points on the old woman's body.
Seeing this, everyone around held their breath.
That single display of skill stunned everyone present.
Laymen watch the spectacle, while insiders watch the technique. Lin Chuan's acupuncture technique gave the paramedics quite a fright.
They had seen fast acupuncture, and they had seen accurate acupuncture, but acupuncture so fast yet with jaw-dropping accuracy was something they had only ever seen in television dramas.
Lin Chuan lightly twirled the silver needles in the three acupuncture points one by one, and then pulled them out in reverse order.
As the last silver needle was drawn out, the old woman's body shuddered violently, and she began to cough fiercely.
"Cough, cough, cough, cough..."
Seeing this, the woman nearby hurriedly stepped forward to support the old woman, crying out, "Mom, you're finally awake! You scared your daughter to death!"
"She's alive! This is truly miraculous! Just a moment ago her face looked like a dead person's, and now her complexion is rosy like nothing ever happened."
"I told you this little master has an extraordinary bearing. Someone this handsome couldn't possibly be a fraud."
"You sure as hell weren't saying that just a second ago!"
Everyone was filled with wonder. Just moments ago, an old woman at death's door had been brought back to life in under ten minutes at the hands of this young Daoist priest wearing a Daoist robe and a hair bun. This was practically a miracle!
After patting the old woman's back until she calmed down, the woman moved to kowtow to Lin Chuan, but was stopped by him.
"Benefactor, no need for such formalities. The old lady's condition is not yet fully healed and she still requires a period of quiet recuperation."
"I will give you a medicinal formula. You can fill the prescription according to my directions, decoct it in clear water, and drink it once a day, skipping a day in between. Drink it in the morning and not at night, and after a month she will naturally be fine."
The woman wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes and hurriedly took out her phone, handing it to Lin Chuan.
"I... I don't know how to use a phone," Lin Chuan said, scratching his head with some embarrassment.
The woman froze. She clearly hadn't expected that there would still be someone in this day and age who didn't know how to use a mobile phone.
Yet she recovered almost instantly. "Then please tell me, little master, and I'll write it down."
Lin Chuan told the woman the names of the medicinal herbs one by one, instructing her to go back and take the medicine regularly according to the prescription.
"Alright, alright, thank you so much, little master! Thank you!"
As the woman spoke, she wanted to leave her contact information with Lin Chuan, but realizing that Lin Chuan didn't even know how to use a phone, how could he possibly have a way to stay in touch?
With no other choice, she pulled a thick stack of hundred-dollar bills from her bag and shoved them into Lin Chuan's hands. It looked to be at least twenty or thirty thousand yuan.
"Little master, this is all I have on me right now. This is my business card; the Haoting International Hotel is mine. If you need any help with anything, little master, just call this number or come straight here to find me."
"Right now my mother's condition cannot be delayed, so please forgive me for not being able to thank you properly."
Without waiting for Lin Chuan to refuse, the woman followed the ambulance and left the scene.
As for the surrounding onlookers, the way they looked at Lin Chuan had completely changed. Several graceful young women with stunning looks and figures stepped forward to strike up a conversation.
There was no help for it; Lin Chuan's face was simply capable of breaking the curse that "men chasing women is separated by a mountain," successfully turning "men chasing women is separated by a mountain" into "women chasing men is separated by a single thin veil."
Meanwhile, at the back of the crowd, a luxurious, imposing Bentley was parked by the roadside. The license plate was an extremely eye-catching six eights—the kind of plate money alone couldn't necessarily buy.
The person in the back seat had watched the entire process of Lin Chuan saving lives.
Then a magnetic voice rang out: "This little master has some skills. Uncle Liu, go and invite him over."
The driver asked, "Does the young master think he can cure the old master's illness?"
"Let's give it a try. After all, we've visited all the big and small hospitals at home and abroad, and sought out every famous miracle doctor, yet none of them could cure my father. This little master looks barely twenty and yet possesses such ability; perhaps there's a glimmer of hope?"
The driver, addressed as Uncle Liu, sighed, nodded, and pushed open the car door to walk toward Lin Chuan.
