Chapter 37

Father Ning looked at the photo on the marriage certificate: regular facial features and a full forehead. He nodded in great satisfaction, and even praised his daughter Ning Yumeng for having a good eye. If the guy really worked at the Municipal Committee—whether as an ordinary staff member or a leading cadre—they could certainly give this marriage a try. If it really didn't work out, they could talk about it later. Anyway, they had already gotten the marriage certificate, so there was no room for regret now. Father Ning took out his phone, took a picture of the marriage certificate, and sent it one by one to his friends at the Municipal Committee whom he knew. Four or five people wasn't a small number; surely at least one of them would know the guy? What puzzled Father Ning was that normally, those few people replied to his messages in seconds, and even if they were delayed by something, it wouldn't take more than ten minutes. What was going on today? It had been almost half an hour, and not a single person had replied to his message. Could they all be busy? That was impossible, right? And he hadn't heard any wind about any urgent meetings needing to be held at the Municipal Committee either. It was evening already, long past off-duty hours.
