Chapter 2

The interrogative tone left Chen Feng utterly speechless. True to their beastly nature, these monsters were always so self-righteous no matter the occasion.
"Whether I'm coming home early or late really has nothing to do with you, Yan Bugui!"
Without giving the other man a chance to reply, Chen Feng turned sideways and walked right into the Quadrangle Courtyard.
"You—you, simply incorrigible!"
Watching Chen Feng's retreating figure, Yan Bugui trembled with anger.
Even though he was the courtyard supervisor/manager with the least presence in the Quadrangle Courtyard, he was still one of the three courtyard supervisor/managers, come what may.
That little punk Chen Feng didn't have an ounce of manners. This deeply displeased Yan Bugui, who prided himself on being a man of letters.
"Dear, what's wrong?"
Third Aunt came out, and seeing Yan Bugui's dark expression, asked curiously.
"What's wrong?"
"What else could be wrong? It's that brat Chen Feng from the rear courtyard! I kindly greeted him, and not only did he show zero manners, he even called me directly by my full name. It's infuriating!"
Yan Bugui fumed with impotent rage.
Hearing this, Third Aunt rolled her eyes at him.
"You never learn, do you? Ever since Chen Bingyi and his wife passed away a year ago, that kid Chen Feng has completely changed his temperament and stopped interacting with people in our courtyard. And yet you still go and stick your hot face against his cold backside—aren't you just asking to be snubbed?"
"How was I supposed to know! Old Chen and his wife have been gone for a full year now. No matter what happened, Chen Feng should have moved past the grief by now, shouldn't he? I was just afraid he might do something foolish and wanted to guide him through it!"
Yan Bugui spouted nonsense with his eyes wide open.
"Fine, fine... whatever you say!"
Having been married to Yan Bugui for so many years, how could Third Aunt not know what he was really thinking? She simply didn't expose him out of consideration for her husband.
"I—I'm right!"
Yan Bugui stubbornly kept up a bold front, though his wife's gaze still made him blush a little.
He was a scholar, after all!
***
Middle Courtyard!
Chen Feng's appearance immediately caught the attention of the older women, especially one whose gaze resembled that of a fat pig, which Chen Feng intensely disliked.
Mrs. Jia!
The Death Mage!
Her specialty was summoning the undead.
Ever since crossing over a little over a month ago, Mrs. Jia was the person Chen Feng found most annoying.
Fortunately, because his original host's parents had both died, causing a drastic change in temperament that led him to draw knives on the beasts in the compound a few times, his life over the past month had been relatively peaceful.
"Bah! You little bastard who cursed your own parents to death, why are you back so early today? Could it be you got fired from the Rolling Mill? If that's the case, that would be wonderful! Once he starves to death, won't his house belong to the Jia family?"
Mrs. Jia's malicious, triangular eyes were filled with greed.
Humph!
Though Chen Feng didn't know what Mrs. Jia was thinking, her spiteful gaze made it obvious that she certainly wasn't wishing him well.
She probably even wished he would drop dead!
The reason he had transmigrated here in the first place was because the original owner had already died.
As for how the original host died?
Since the original owner himself didn't know, Chen Feng naturally had no way of finding out, but various signs indicated that the original owner's death was likely tied to the beasts in the Quadrangle Courtyard.
He clearly remembered the look of astonishment and terror in those beasts' eyes that fateful morning when he had dazed and confusedly appeared before them—that reaction definitely wasn't faked.
At the time, Chen Feng had just transmigrated and hadn't fully cleared his head, so he hadn't paid it much mind. But as time went on and he completely integrated the original host's memories, it finally dawned on him in hindsight.
The original owner's death had to be connected to those beasts.
Otherwise, they wouldn't have worn such shocked and terrified expressions the day they saw him.
Unfortunately, the original owner's memories held no evidence regarding this matter, and moreover, when he transmigrated, he was in a haze and hadn't paid attention to whether anything in the room was out of place.
By the time he came to his senses, a whole week had already passed.
After so much time, any evidence that might have existed was long gone.
Chen Feng didn't mind, though.
What even constituted evidence?
As far as he was concerned, whatever he believed to be true was evidence.
Besides, the shock and terror on those beasts' faces were more than enough to tell the whole story.
However, lacking influence and standing alone, he wasn't yet strong enough to exact revenge for the original owner—and for himself.
That was the exact reason he had kept a low profile and bided his time over the past month.
But now, with the arrival of the system, everything would fall naturally into place.
Back inside his home, Chen Feng bolted the door securely and couldn't wait to enter the Spatial Farm.
The Spatial Farm.
It was the Gold Finger (Cheat) Chen Feng had awakened last night—the built-in farm space of the Super Farm System. The flow of time inside the Spatial Farm was thirty times faster than in the real world: one day outside equated to thirty days inside the Spatial Farm.
Furthermore, the farm came with a daily check-in feature, allowing one check-in per day.
As for what the prizes would be, it was entirely up to luck.
"Note: The time dilation in the Spatial Farm only affects crops and livestock; it cannot affect the host."
Because of the Spatial Farm's existence, Chen Feng had zero worries about the production quota assigned by the factory.
With a thirty-to-one speed multiplier, seven days meant that over two hundred days would pass inside the Spatial Farm.
A pig reached market weight in about a hundred days or so; as long as he could get his hands on a few piglets, fulfilling the quota would be a walk in the park.
He wouldn't even have to fear any future production targets assigned by the factory.
Although his Spatial Farm wasn't massive, it wasn't small either, covering an area of one hundred acres. Last night, Chen Feng had already laid it out in neat, orderly sections.
Fifty acres were designated for wheat, rice, corn, potatoes, and soybeans; twenty acres for various fruits; and of the remaining thirty acres, twenty were planned out for pigpens, sheepfolds, cattle sheds, and chicken coops, while the final ten acres were converted into a fish pond.
Fortunately, within the Spatial Farm, Chen Feng was like a god; whatever he wanted to do could be accomplished with a single thought.
Otherwise, with such a massive workload, even thinking about finishing it on his own without taking several months would be out of the question.
However, since Chen Feng didn't have any grain, fruit trees, or livestock seedlings and seeds on hand, the entire farm still looked completely empty.
Aside from the fish pond, which shimmered with ripples thanks to a natural spring spring up from the system space, the farm space did indeed look rather desolate.
Yet Chen Feng believed that this situation would change very soon.
"System, check in!"
"Ding! Host check-in successful. Due to the host's first check-in, a ten-fold critical strike is triggered. The host has obtained the following prizes..."
"Second space unlocked: Workshop Space, with an area of one thousand acres."
"Obtained a premium grain seed gift package (containing one thousand kilograms of various crop seeds each)."
"Obtained a premium fruit sapling gift package (containing one hundred saplings of each fruit tree variety)."
"Obtained a premium livestock seedling gift package (containing ten chicks, lambs, piglets, and calves each)."
"Obtained one Body Cleansing Pill."
"Obtained the martial art Hong Quan, Master level."
"Obtained Firearms Mastery, with the intrinsic effect of a hundred-percent hit rate."
"Obtained one Marlin 1895 lever-action rifle, along with 500 rounds of .45-70 government ammunition."
"Obtained one spatial coordinate marker. Sets a fixed spatial coordinate; regardless of where the setter is, they can teleport back to the set location. Teleportation back to the origin point can be performed at any time within twenty-four hours, with a cooldown period of fifteen days."
"The spatial coordinate anchor can be modified once every one hundred days."
