The lake glistened, a vast expanse of ripples under the moonlight. On a small, moon-drenched hill stood a treasure monastery of solemn beauty. The mountain itself had no name, but because of this temple, the world called it "Lingyin Mountain." It was the sacred site of the Zen school of Myriad Buddha Temple, the place where Lingyin Temple stood.
The night deepened, and all was silent.
Suddenly, a bell tolled, startling countless monks from their sleep. Beneath the bright moon, a Dharma image of an Immovable Wisdom King slowly rose. Its radiance was vast and blinding; though it was not the full moon, it eclipsed it. Seeing the Dharma body of the Wisdom King, most of the monks in the temple wore expressions of fanaticism and prostrated piously. "Greetings to the Immovable Wisdom King."
Only a few monks in red cassocks clasped their hands together and bowed slightly in reverence. The leader, holding a zen staff, clasped his hands and asked with a heavy expression, "What has disturbed Master Kongzhi?"
