Devereux leaned against the doorframe, his gaze sweeping over Lupin's worn trunk. The trunk was securely bound with ropes tied in neat knots, apparently to keep its contents from spilling out. The corners of the trunk were heavily worn, clearly having accompanied its owner through many trials and tribulations. "It really is him," Devereux thought to himself. Back when he first proposed the concept of the Wolfsbane Potion, he had already guessed that Professor Snape and Dumbledore would bring in Lupin as a test subject. It was only because Lupin seemed to have other matters tying him down at the time that the plan had been delayed again and again, ultimately making Luna the first test subject. Now it seemed Lupin had finally arrived—most likely to receive treatment. Lupin stood at the doorway, bowing slightly with a tired smile on his face. "Hello there," he asked in a hoarse voice. "Is Professor Snape in, please? I'm Remus Lupin, sent here by Professor Dumbledore." Devereux looked the man up and down. His robes were so threadbare it was painful to look at, and his face carried a palpable exhaustion, as if even speaking took a great deal of effort. "The professor is discussing something with the headmaster," Devereux said, stepping aside to make way. "Sir, you can put your trunk down first and come in to sit for a while. You look... like you need some rest."
