Regardless of anything else, as a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Quirrell's spell repertoire was quite adequate. Devereux's eyes lit up when he saw the general counter-spell, Finite Incantatem. If Quirrell could actually teach this spell in class, enduring this garlic-scented classroom wouldn't be so bad. Of course, they were only first-years. Most of them couldn't even manage the simplest Levitation Charm, so there was certainly no way Finite Incantatem would be added to the syllabus. Still, for the older students, it was hard to say. Devereux's lips curved upward slightly. There was no way he was going to sit through Defense Against the Dark Arts with this bunch of toddlers. This was a subject Devereux intended to petition to take with the upperclassmen as well! Although the original books said Quirrell wasn't much of a teacher, surely he had to demonstrate some charms in class? Otherwise, how would the students preparing for their O.W.L.s or N.E.W.T.s let him hear the end of it? Young wizards never messed around when it came to their futures. As he thought about this, a second stat panel suddenly appeared before his eyes.
