Chapter 1

1,455 words7 minutes read

Early in the morning, in a beautiful countryside, a young boy with immature yet remarkably handsome and delicate features—a youth whose striking looks could not be concealed even by his tender age—gently opened his eyes inside an exquisite little villa.
The moment the boy opened his eyes, a dazzling light flashed within his starry pupils. Yet that trace of light vanished in a flash, and as it faded, his star-like eyes returned to an ordinary appearance; even upon close inspection, one would only notice that his eyes were somewhat brighter than those of ordinary people.
"Ah, another vibrant and hopeful day!" Stretching lazily, the boy did not linger in bed. He threw off the quilt directly and stepped onto the floor barefoot.
If anyone had been present at that moment, they would have discovered that the little boy's feet were more delicate and fairer than those of ninety-nine percent of girls. But should anyone attempt any malicious intentions, the owner of those feet would use harsh reality to teach them the true meaning of cruelty!
"Whoosh!"
Accompanied by a sound neither too loud nor too soft, the curtains of the room were drawn open. The orange-red sunlight instantly streamed through the window onto the little boy's face, and the boy stood there with both hands grasping the curtains, turned sideways toward the half-risen sun, the corners of his mouth curving slightly upward.
"The timing is just right. It's time to begin cultivation..."
The boy was named Ye Feng, a name he had possessed since birth. Yet, regrettably, while the name remained the same, the world was no longer that world.
Yes, just like the cliché and well-worn tropes in countless novels, he was a time-traveler. Although the manner of his transmigration was somewhat bizarre, even absurd, what was fortunate was that the world he transmigrated into was a peaceful one, and furthermore, it was his familiar homeland. Even more fortunately, he had a system.
As for his method of transmigration—that utterly embarrassing way where, after reading a xianxia novel, he carved a wooden sword himself, imitated a sword-finger mudra while chunkiely mimicking the protagonists in books soaring on flying swords, and as a result actually succeeded, accidentally executing a "sword flight" that pierced his own heart and killed himself—there was no need to bring that up again.
"Eleven years! Do you have any idea how I've survived these past eleven full years?!"
"This kind of life... being provided with food and clothing without ever having to worry about future financial prospects is truly, fucking awesome!"
Compared to those miserable "predecessors," although Ye Feng was not reborn into some wealthy and noble family after transmigrating—his parents were merely teachers in a town—their salaries were quite decent. At least their earnings meant he didn't have to rack his brains to make money right after birth the way those "predecessors" did.
Thus, relying on his own intelligence (and the elementary school knowledge he hadn't completely forgotten), Ye Feng wreaked havoc across the central primary school in the city, winning numerous scholarships every year and making his "childhood" exceptionally comfortable.
After letting out a long sigh of exclamation and finishing his breath-control exercise facing the morning sun, Ye Feng exhaled deeply. Instantly, a streak of white light shot out from his mouth like a sword Qi, flying seven or eight meters before slowly dissipating into the air.
Fortunately, right behind his family's little villa were lush green hills, and it was still early in the morning; otherwise, had anyone witnessed this scene, he surely would have been invited for "tea." After all, spitting out breath like a sword was not something a normal person could accomplish.
"Beep ~ Daily morning violet Qi absorption task completed, immortal power +10."
Listening to the system's prompt, the smile at the corners of Ye Feng's mouth grew even wider.
Although his method of transmigration was rather bizarre, the immortal cultivation system that accompanied him was quite impressive. As long as he persisted in cultivation and completed the system's tasks, he would receive rewards. These rewards were bizarre and varied, but generally speaking, they were all beneficial to his practice.
The only pity was that he had been cultivating immortals for ten years now. Sword flight, which he could previously only fantasize about, had long since become effortless for him. Yet despite sneaking out at night over the past two years to fly his sword and scour the surrounding area thoroughly, he had failed to discover any trace of other Cultivators, leaving Ye Feng somewhat disappointed.
However, Ye Feng was not discouraged. After all, he still had to consider his parents in this world; hence, even when he sneaked out at night, he dared not stay away for too long and thus could not travel very far. But now he had graduated from primary school, and once he entered junior high, he would have more time to explore and search for "kindred spirits."
In order not to make his parents in this world worry or grieve, and to avoid unnecessary trouble, he had acted like a little brat for a full six years! Had he not possessed the immortal cultivation system—usually dedicating the vast majority of his mental focus to cultivation and sparing only a fraction to cope with schooling—he probably would have been driven mad by the torture.
Fortunately, although he still strongly wished to avoid going, teenagers at the junior high stage gradually began to mature. He wouldn't need to constantly monitor his words and actions, worrying that some relatively "shocking" remarks would suddenly slip out and frighten others, nor would he need to deliberately pretend to be introverted and averse to chatting with people.
However, though his time at school was not particularly pleasant, the hours after school were still quite joyous for Ye Feng. He could freely do things he loved, such as using the household induction cooker to refine some pills while his parents were out.
As for trivial homework, it was sheer child's play to him. Ever since he mastered psychokinesis, writing homework was even less of an issue. With just a thought, he could use his Divine Sense to control several pens simultaneously, enabling them to work at once; even things like summer vacation homework could be wrapped up in half an hour.
"Although the system's rewards are not bad, relying solely on those meager rewards is ultimately not a long-term solution."
Indeed, while the system's rewards were decent, the task refresh rate was not high, and the vast majority of rewards consisted of immortal power, various cultivation techniques, array formations, alchemy manuals, and the like. Materials such as treasures, pills, spiritual herbs, and forging components made up only a very small portion.
This was precisely why Ye Feng had searched everywhere for "kindred spirits" after mastering sword flight and gaining a measure of self-preservation: he simply lacked materials to practice with. As for ordinary medicinal herbs and various metallic materials, while usable, they were barely adequate at best.
"Hopefully, this situation will improve after I start junior high."
As Ye Feng sighed softly in his heart, faint rustling sounds drifted from his parents' bedroom next door—they were awake, too.
Hearing the noises, Ye Feng rubbed his face, put on a sweet smile, and turned to head outside. He wanted to take a stroll on the mountain today to see if he could find some suitable herbs to test a newly devised "pill recipe," and that required his parents' "approval."
When the red sun in the west was about to sink below the horizon, Ye Feng returned home carrying a small bag of wild berries. To his astonishment, however, the moment he stepped through the front door, he was greeted by the exceptionally solemn expressions on his parents' faces.
"Dad, Mum, what's wrong?" Seeing their grave looks, Ye Feng wiped the smile from his face and walked up to them. Upon hearing his words, Ye Feng's parents solemnly handed a piece of "paper" toward him.
Ye Feng: [?_??]
Taking the "paper" and staring at the English words on it—words he had almost forgotten, though he could still recognize a few terms—Ye Feng's head was filled with question marks. Seeing the confusion on Ye Feng's face, Ye's Mum suddenly slapped her forehead in vexation.
"Oh dear, I completely forgot that you don't really know English yet."
"This is an admission letter—an admission letter from a school in England called Hogwarts."
"Hog... warts?"
Hearing this name filled Ye Feng's head with even more question marks. He had been cultivating immortals for ten full years, and now you're telling me this isn't a world of immortal cultivation, but a world of magic? Are you certain you aren't pulling my leg?
