Everyone at Hogwarts basically knew that staying close to Ye Feng was the safest thing to do when there was no danger, but when danger actually struck, Ye Feng himself was the biggest hazard of all. However... some things are simply unpredictable at times.
Danger is not always something you can consciously prevent, especially since Ye Feng in a dangerous situation looks completely indistinguishable from Ye Feng in a safe one.
Besides, the danger Ye Feng posed often didn't stem from himself, but from the random things he tinkered with—things you wouldn't necessarily recognize as his handiwork even if you stumbled right upon them.
