Generally speaking, all things in nature follow certain fixed rules. The ancients called it the Dao following nature, and today we call it the laws of nature. If you want to accomplish something, going with the flow is certainly simpler and easier than going against it. Conversely, going against the current or completely ignoring these rules makes things immensely difficult; even if you somehow succeed, the results will be greatly diminished, achieving half the result with twice the effort. However, there are some people—and some things—that were designed without any consideration for these rules at all.
