"Boss, Boss, what's wrong?"
A voice pulled Moyuan back to reality.
"Nothing, just thinking about some things." Moyuan waved his hand.
"If it's nothing, then I'll believe you, but Boss, you have no idea how terrifying you looked just now. That look in your eyes looked like it could kill." Seeing Moyuan return to his normal self, Di Fei let out a long breath of relief.
Moyuan looked around and noticed that, apart from Di Fei, his other classmates were all standing several meters away from him.
"They all ran off, so how come you're still by my side?" Moyuan teased, looking at Di Fei beside him. "Aren't you afraid I might suddenly go crazy and start killing people?"
"What's there to be afraid of? Boss, you've been the best to me since we were kids. Whenever I got bullied, you were the first one to stand up. Even when you couldn't win, you still went in swinging. I can believe you'd kill anyone else, but if you killed me? Not even a dog would believe it." As he spoke, Di Fei quietly sidled up close to Moyuan. "Boss, tell me quietly, did you kill someone? Don't worry, our bond is ironclad, practically born from the same womb. I'd never betray you."
"You rascal." Moyuan wrapped an arm around Di Fei's shoulder and gave him an amused look.
Di Fei had played with him since they were little, and in his past life, he was also one of the very few people who had always believed in him.
"I did kill quite a few people, just yesterday."
"Really!?"
"Of course not." Moyuan chuckled, teasing Di Fei. "Alright, if I had really killed someone, would I still be standing here?"
In this world where the Demon race was powerful and the Human race was weak, internal slaughter among humans was strictly forbidden. Once discovered, the perpetrator would be immediately arrested and dealt with under severe charges.
"Ice attribute? Although it's a nine-star, her cultivation speed is already on par with a ten-star basic five-element attribute. With a talent like that, forget about a tiny place like Hecheng, even in the Capital, she'd be a prime prospect fought over by all the major factions. What a pity, she's not the person I'm looking for." On the far edge of the stage, an elderly man quietly watched Lu Xue'er, who was surrounded by the crowd, shaking his head and muttering to himself. "According to the divination, his gender is male, not a little girl."
"Hahaha, a nine-star talent with an ice attribute! Principal Liu, see that? Just as you said, there really was a huge surprise waiting for me. My student probably won't just be fought over by the major prestigious schools—they'll probably crack their heads open trying to invite her over." Li Yuan couldn't get enough of it and shot a sideways glance at Principal Liu. "Principal Liu, are those dog eyes of yours blinded yet? If they aren't, you'd better keep a tight watch on those three good students from your school. I've heard they didn't do fewer wicked things before entering your school; it would be bad if you failed to keep an eye on them and ended up dragging No. 24 High School's reputation through the mud."
"It's pitiful that at my age, I still have to hoof it over to the Director's office. I went just last year, and going again this year makes me rather embarrassed. By the way, Principal Liu, do you still remember the way to the Director's office? If you remember, send me a map. After all, I'm getting old, and I can't remember some of the routes clearly anymore."
Liu Qinghan's face turned livid, anger flashing in his eyes as if a thunderous fury could erupt at any moment.
"Oh-oh-oh, look at you, look at you, why are you getting all worked up? I know you're in a rush, but don't rush just yet. Who knows, maybe our students will show an even more astonishing talent later on that will make you rush even more." Fearing that Liu Qinghan wouldn't be angry enough to drop dead, Li Yuan immediately started stoking the flames from the side.
"Hoo... hoo..." Liu Qinghan took a deep breath. He wanted to throw a punch, but he couldn't. Reason told him that once he made a move, he was no match for Li Yuan at all.
"Hmph, you just got lucky once, what's there to be so smug about?" Liu Qinghan sneered, his face ashen.
"Who knows? Why doesn't Principal Liu say a few more auspicious words so our school can get another good seedling?" Li Yuan looked at Liu Qinghan with a beaming smile. Whether there were students with good talents afterwards didn't matter. What mattered was that Lu Xue'er had appeared—Li Yuan versus Liu Qinghan, Li Yuan wins.
Moyuan paid no attention to what was happening on the stage; the crowd below was already in an uproar anyway. Countless university recruitment teachers rushed over to Lu Xue'er, each offering rewards from their respective schools, and some even pulled out divine weapons.
Yet even so, Lu Xue'er remained completely unmoved.
After politely turning down the recruitment teachers one by one, Lu Xue'er walked toward Moyuan's class.
"Boss, look, look! It looks like your sister-in-law is coming to find you."
"What nonsense are you talking about? Xue'er and I aren't married yet." Slapping Di Fei lightly on the head, Moyuan shook his head helplessly.
"Boss, you guys are already planning to get married? Then I've got to grab a seat at the front row for the banquet." Di Fei's eyes lit up with excitement. His boss and Lu Xue'er getting married was a tremendous cause for celebration.
"How is it that you look more excited than if you were getting married yourself?"
While they were talking, Lu Xue'er had already walked up to Moyuan.
"Brother Mo, I awakened the ice attribute talent, and it's even a nine-star."
Lu Xue'er, who usually looked as cold as frost, seemed like a completely different person the moment she walked up to Moyuan. She looked at him with great excitement.
"I saw it. I said it long ago, Xue'er is exceptionally talented, and the talent she awakens was bound to be astonishing." Moyuan smiled faintly and affectionately stroked Lu Xue'er's hair.
"Brother Mo, so many people are watching." A trace of shyness flashed across Lu Xue'er's delicate face. Why did she feel like the Moyuan in front of her had turned into a different person? In the past, Moyuan would never have done anything so intimate in broad daylight.
"Let them watch, what of it? If they have the ability, they should go find such a beautiful and charming girlfriend themselves." Moyuan smiled slightly, completely unconcerned.
After all these years, he had finally seen his beloved again. In this lifetime, no matter what dangers lay ahead, he would stay by his beloved's side.
"Brother Mo..."
"Boss, mind the people around us. It has a bad influence."
"What kind of influence could it have?" Moyuan said, sweeping a glance at the surrounding classmates and noticing that the male students were glaring daggers at him. If looks could kill, he probably would have died a thousand times over.
"My goddess! Why does she like Moyuan? He's just a bit more handsome and better at studying. Aside from that, what does he have that compares to me?"
"Uh, let me ask you a bold question: what do you have that compares to Moyuan?"
"Me? My hair is longer than Moyuan's." The student with the nonmainstream hairstyle tossed his head, thinking he looked very cool.
"Go play somewhere else."
"Word is they've been childhood sweethearts. They really are a match made in heaven."
"Hmph, what's the use of being good at studying? In a moment when talents are awakened, that's reality. I don't know how many childhood sweetheart couples among high school graduates instantly reveal their true colors once their talents awaken."
"Without talent, no matter how deep their affection, couples are bound to break up."
Listening to the mixed reviews from his surrounding classmates, Moyuan was somewhat speechless.
"Boss, don't listen to those dogs barking. Let's walk our own path and let them talk." As Moyuan's number one underling, Di Fei immediately stepped forward to comfort him.
"I'm fine, you hurry up and go awaken your talent." Moyuan shook his head and said to Di Fei. Such idle gossip was nothing; the scale of what he had experienced in his past life was far greater than this.
"Don't worry, Boss. If I awaken a good talent, I'll have your back. Just leave it to me!" Di Fei dropped those words and sprinted toward the awakening stage.
"Have my back?" Looking at Di Fei's plump figure, Moyuan thought it was rather comical.
Having been a boss for a lifetime, there was no way he would let little Xiaopang protect him instead.
"What kind of talent might Di Fei have, Brother Mo?" Lu Xue'er asked softly. She simply ignored all that insignificant nonsense, but she was still a bit curious about Di Fei's talent.
"Talent? It definitely won't compare to Xue'er's!" Thinking of Di Fei's talent from his past life, Moyuan smiled mysteriously.
