Chapter 16

"Stop arguing! Do you know how long I've been waiting? Send it over to the north gate immediately, or I'll give you a bad review!"
Before Ye Chen could reply, the call disconnected with a click.
Ye Chen frowned. A bad review meant deducting fifty orders, which was no small matter.
He started the Ghost-fire and drove toward the north gate.
Arriving at the north gate, he saw a male ghost student standing there, wearing school uniform pants but no shirt. His upper body was covered in green, bruised patches, and his eyes glared with extreme resentment.
"Are you the delivery guy?" The student snapped fiercely.
"Yes. Here is your takeout." Ye Chen handed it over.
The student took the bag, opened it, and his expression instantly twisted with anger. "The food is cold! Do you know how long I've stood here waiting for you?"
Ye Chen pointed out reasonably, "You wrote the south gate on the order. I waited at the south gate for ten minutes, and you were the one who made me run all the way here."
"I told you to come to the north gate, so the north gate is where you should have been! Are you trying to shift the blame?" The student reached out and grabbed Ye Chen by the collar. "Today, you're either going to compensate me for my mental distress, or I'm giving you a bad review!"
Ye Chen looked at the student's hand gripping his collar, feeling a sudden surge of irritation. If it weren't for the rules, he would have loved to bash this guy's head in with his High-Frequency Electromagnetic Club.
Just as Ye Chen was about to use some diplomatic persuasion, the system prompt suddenly rang out:
【Hidden Task Triggered: The Student's Resentment】 【Description: The customer is furious over the wrong delivery location and demands compensation. Please resolve this dispute within 3 minutes.】 【Reward: 500 Ghost Coins.】
Seeing the hidden task, Ye Chen instantly changed his mind. A bad review? No way. Not only was he not going to get a bad review, but he was also going to make this ghost leave a five-star review with a smile.
Ye Chen reached into his spatial storage and pulled out a bottle of Spirit Enhancement Capsule, dangling it right in front of the student's eyes.
"Look at this. This is a rare Spirit Enhancement Capsule. It can permanently enhance your spiritual power and make your brain much sharper. I was originally going to take it myself, but since we're destined to meet, I'll let you have it as compensation for your trouble."
The student stared at the capsule, his eyes glowing with greed. "Is this real?"
"Would I lie to you?" Ye Chen said righteously. "Take a sniff. Does it smell like pure, unadulterated spiritual energy?"
The student leaned in and took a deep sniff. His expression turned intoxicated. "It really is good stuff!"
"Take it," Ye Chen said, handing the capsule over. "Consider it my apology. But since I've given you such a precious item, you should probably give me a five-star review to show your appreciation, right?"
"Of course! Five stars, absolutely!" The student snatched the capsule, nodded eagerly, and immediately pulled out his phone to tap the screen. "Done! Five-star review given!"
"Pleasure doing business with you." Ye Chen smiled, hopped back onto his Ghost-fire, and sped away.
As soon as he was gone, the student opened the capsule and swallowed it in one gulp.
A second later, the student's expression froze. He clutched his stomach, his face turning pale green, and let out a miserable screech: "Damn it! That wasn't a Spirit Enhancement Capsule! That was a laxative!"
Meanwhile, Ye Chen was already cruising down the street, humming a cheerful tune.
【Hidden task completed: The Student's Resentment. Reward: 500 Ghost Coins.】
The afternoon passed in a blur of deliveries. With his efficiency and the help of the High-Frequency Electromagnetic Club—used strictly for navigation and finding shortcuts, of course—Ye Chen's order count steadily climbed.
By evening, the rest of the players were exhausted, complaining bitterly in the group chat about how brutal the delivery job was. Several of them had already received multiple bad reviews and were on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Ye Chen, on the other hand, was sitting at a roadside stall eating a bowl of ghost noodles, leisurely checking his stats.
"Current orders completed: 45." "Five-star reviews: 42."
At this rate, finishing the main quest within the 30-day time limit would be an absolute breeze.
Suddenly, his delivery phone rang.
"New order received."
Ye Chen glanced at the address. It was an abandoned hospital on the outskirts of the city.
The time was 11:15 PM.
Rule number 4 clearly stated: "No going out after 12 midnight, otherwise accidents happen and the company takes no responsibility."
There were only forty-five minutes left before the curfew.
Ye Chen frowned slightly. This order was clearly cutting it close.
He paid for his noodles, hopped onto his Ghost-fire, and twisted the throttle to the maximum. The motorcycle let out a furious roar and shot through the dark streets like a streak of lightning.
Ten minutes later, the dilapidated silhouette of the abandoned hospital loomed ahead under the pale moonlight.
The entire building was shrouded in a thick, eerie fog, and faint, chilling wails echoed from the shattered windows.
Ye Chen parked the bike outside the entrance, put on his Multi-functional Helmet, and switched on the night-vision mode. The dark, gloomy courtyard instantly lit up in a clear green hue.
He checked the order details: "Deliver to the morgue on the basement floor."
"Basement floor. Classic horror trope," Ye Chen muttered to himself, pulling out his High-Frequency Electromagnetic Club and stepping inside the building.
The rusty elevator was out of order, so Ye Chen took the stairs. Every step he took produced a hollow, echoing sound that bounced off the damp concrete walls.
As he reached the basement corridor, the air turned freezing cold, dropping to a temperature that could cut through bone.
A heavy, suffocating pressure hung in the air—a clear sign of a Domain-level presence nearby.
Ye Chen activated his infrared vision. Through the lens, he could see thick wisps of Ghost Power lingering around the corners like crawling pythons.
He walked down the dim hallway until he found the heavy steel door labeled "Morgue."
Before he could even knock, the door creaked open on its own.
A pale, elderly female ghost wearing a nurse's uniform stood on the other side, staring at him with sunken, lifeless eyes.
"You're late," the nurse said, her voice sounding like grinding stones.
Ye Chen glanced at his watch. "11:45 PM. Ten minutes left before midnight. Right on time."
The nurse reached out a claw-like hand and snatched the takeout box from his hands. "Whatever. Give me the food."
Just as Ye Chen was about to turn around and leave, the system prompt suddenly rang out again:
【Hidden Task Triggered: The Nurse's Midnight Snack】 【Description: The nurse is still hungry after her meal. If you can provide her with an extra portion of fresh meat within 5 minutes, you will receive a massive reward.】 【Reward: 1500 Ghost Coins, plus a random skill book.】
Ye Chen stopped in his tracks and turned back to look at the nurse.
The nurse tilted her head, her jaw unhinging slightly. "Is there something else, delivery boy? Do you want to stay... and be part of the midnight snack?"
Ye Chen smiled calmly, raised his High-Frequency Electromagnetic Club, and switched it to maximum vibration mode.
"Actually, I just realized... I brought a special delivery for you."
