The last sliver of twilight finally clung to the remaining afterglow before vanishing into the horizon. The inner chamber fell into gloom once more. In the absence of light, Yuwen Junan remained submerged in the water, refusing to make a sound. Pei Hengyu’s fingers traced the edge of a dossier. He did not turn a single page, but instead said, unhurriedly, "I recall that before I descended the cliff that day, I left you at the summit. Since the cliff was so high, how did you manage to find your way to the bottom?"
