Lucille was not particularly fond of Muggles, but she certainly did not hate them either. The Jones family had always prided itself on self-preservation, and her mother—a Black, unlike Walburga—was different. Their branch of the Blacks had been different right from their grandparents. Grandmother Lacy and Grandfather Ares understood love and tolerance; they were wonderfully kind people. Grandmother Lacy had been much older than Grandfather Ares. There had been no grand romance between them initially; it was Ares's relentless persistence that finally won her heart. Because she was a good friend of Dumbledore's, she had inevitably taken part in the war against Grindelwald. They detested war. In that conflict, they had lost far, far too much—friends, children, and countless witches and wizards.
