Severus preferred the weeks of final exam revision, because classes practically stopped by then, giving him plenty of time to focus on his own pursuits—whether that meant reviewing or delving deeper into Potions and Charms. It had taken him several months of hard work to barely make sense of the book on magical runes that Camelia had given him. Yet he had no intention of actually studying runes; he only wanted to broaden his understanding of magic theory, refusing to let anything distract him from his core focus on Potions and Charms. To both Severus and Hogwarts, Hogwarts was a rare sanctuary, the only place where they could truly feel the freedom and peace of their souls. Even though the castle still held its share of sneers, ostracization, and bullying, these remained the happiest days they had known in years.
