The dog bowl was tossed carelessly onto the floor, and Quinlan approached the bed. Wisps of morning sunlight spilled across the blue-and-white checkered child's bed, where the man's slender frame was wrapped inside the blanket. Almost his entire lower leg was exposed outside the sheet, curled sideways on the bedding, bare-chested and pressing down on the corner of the quilt.
